Great printer
||Posted .After several years of use, my MFC-6490CW Brother AIO started giving me poor quality printouts, and nothing I tried would fix it. So I opted for a new one. This MFCJ6920DW is perfect, even better so far than the MFC-6490. I loved my old Brother AIO, but this one has all the features I wished the old one had. Evidently the folks at Brother listened to the customer feedback. This one has duplex scanning and printing, smarter paper selection, more custom settings, better document feeding, faster communication with the pc, smarter scan capabilities, and many more. I was a bit shocked to see that it has top and bottom side scanning. I guess the extra hardware was not cost-prohibitive. Software installation was a cumbersome process, taking almost an hour to install the full "suite" of programs. On my secondary pc, all I needed was a simple priinter driver, but even that took 15 minutes and crashed near the end. Fortunately it succeeded anyway. The ink cartridges are inexpensive ones that do not include the printheads. That is a good thing in the short term, because of the lower costs. In the long run, it may be a liability, because you cannot easily replace the printhead if it wears out or becomes hopelessly clogged. On my old MFC6490, I think that is the case and so it is now mostly useless except as a big scanner. The document feeder works faster and better than my old one. I saw a drop in scan time of over 50% while doing a multi-page pdf scan (on both sides at that). That made me very happy. No more combining of alternate pages after the scan. The fax machine part was a simple setup and worked perfectly with my existing answering machine/phone. Delivery was fast and the box was in perfect condition.

Amazing value, good compromise, very versatile
||Posted .I got this with the hopes that it would replace several devices I have at home. I've used it for a few months and have had some time to transition tasks to it, and I'm not disappointed. It replaced my all-in-one office jet, a laserjet, and a sheet-feed scanner. It was easy to connect to my network and I could print to it right away. The printing is a little noisy but quick. There's a quiet mode but the printer is in my home office so the noise is okay. It's not awesome for color prints, but in photo print with photo paper it does okay. Scanning works. I did have to do quite a bit of configuration to get it to do what my old scanner did because I had several settings programmed into it, but it works now. I love the fact that it scans both sides in one pass, but it's significantly slower than my dedicated scanner. Ink levels have been good so far, so I'm interested in seeing how long I can go before having to buy ink. The extra large footprint is manageable. The huge advantage is that you can scan music books because it can accommodate the page size. It's fun to be able to print 11x17, I never thought I'd really need to do that.

Great Functionality for the Price
||Posted .Great printer. I have an older model (MFC-J6710DW) similar to this one at work and loved all of the features this machine provides. My older model was not capable of scanning across WIFI. Glad to see Brother improved the capabilities on this newer model, as all of the functions work across WIFI, no matter how many devices you own. Very user friendly installation software.

Full of features, great value
||Posted .I never knew I needed 11x17 scanning until I started using this. I can scan magazines, sheet music, photo album pages, all sorts of things easily. The automatic document feeder works well and the fact that it scans both sides at the same time really saves a lot of time when scanning statements and stuff. The printing is good for an inkjet. I haven't had it long enough to empty the starter ink it comes with. So far, it does everything I need in a printer and then some. Highly recommended at a low price.

Q: QuestionCan I print from my Mac
Asked by Htcspeed.
- A:Answer It does support apple printing and air print, so it's probably one of the few printers that you can use with your mac, ipad, i-whatever.
