Q: Does it have a side access pocket?
A: For the iPad area, yes. There is a small pocket on the side as well. Camera area does not.
Q: Is this bag comparable with a mirrorless camer such as the Sony A7 series cameras?
A: Yes. I have a Canon EOS Rebel 6 and it fits fine.
Q: can a 17 laptop fit in this ?
A: Probably not.
Q: How large is the compartment that can hold an iPad? Could it possibly hold a MacAir at 13"?
A: Can't hold any laptop best fit and designed for DSLR only .
