    Synopsis

    Concussion

"CONCUSSION" is EXCELLENT! And the acting by everyone (Albert Brooks, Alec Baldwin, David Morse, etc.), ESPECIALLY WILL SMITH, blows you away; they are all fantastic. Will Smith is excellent, and his acting progresses with age, as he keeps getting better all the time. His nomination for Best Actor for this movie WAS STOLEN from him! He SHOULD have been nominated. And probably won. I usually buy movies based on true stories, which of course this is. Smith has come a LONG way since Fresh Prince of Bel Air and MEN IN BLACK, and as most actors, who venture into drama, which to me, a talented person can do comedy, drama, dance, and sing, which Will can. He was definitely robbed of a nomination and if he had been nominated, probably would have won, that is how great he is in this role. The academy members goofed. And the movie goes FAST! SEE IT! BUY IT! It's a BEST BUY you can get! It is a great movie. If you don't think so, call your doctor to be examined because you probably have a CONCUSSION! BUT I believe you will enjoy though. Take two viewings, and you'll feel better after watching.

This is one of the better Will Smith performances, what people don't realize is though he did a great job capturing this Doctor who discovered CTE, he's not the one who suffered, the atheletes suffered, thus perhaps that's the reason he did not get an Oscar nomination. Will did get a Golden Globe Nom because Matt Damon was nominated in the Comedy/Musical catagory, which opened a slot in the drama catagory. The important thing in a movie like this is not who gets nominated for anything but rather to show the pain these atheletes go through, and the changes the NFL finally put in place after lying for so many years about concussions. Now, Leo won best actor because it was a great performance and man did he ever suffer or what..

I have been a fan of NFL football since I was a little girl watching with my dad on Sunday afternoons. But, this movie made me really consider what the men who play this sport are putting themselves through week after week, day after day, practice after practice. It's really scary if the facts are presented correctly. These men are putting their mental and physical health at great risk from repeated blows to the head they receive when they practice and play. Will Smith is excellent in his role as a doctor who studies this problem and who presents his findings in hopes of making a difference. The problem he faces is that it's a big business that puts money in the pockets of lots of people, but at what cost?

Will Smith deserved to be nominated for this movie! He did an amazing job in this movie, and it was an emotional roller coaster! Laughing, smiling, crying, being upset and crying again. I am a huge NFL fan, and this movie was eye opening, and I wish the sport of football could be safer, but I would be so sad if concussions was the reason the game eventually comes to an end. I can't imagine that due to the revenues generated, and all of the jobs that exist because of the sport. This movie is for everyone to enjoy, but beware if you love football, it can be hard to watch and still enjoy the game as much as we do.

If you are like me and enjoy movies that are based on true stories, you are gonna love and hate this. Even if you aren't a fan of those kinds of movies and just love football, you need to see this also. This movie, even though I have read that it was still diluted and influenced by the NFL, showed a side and truth that we all deserve to know and should take into consideration instead of blindly idolizing a sport and its athletes. But we all are entitled to our opinion, so I suggest watching it and making your own determination. Enjoy.

Will is brilliant in this movie but the story is more about what we don't know but should know about the Game and the Secrets that hurt. Money continues to glorify and uplift this sport. little kids are still blindly put in the sport because we think its safe and costs nothing, because we believe that: if you fall down and get up -everything will be fine. Keep playing and the best of equipment, training, or organizational controls, will keep you safe during your career. NOT! See the movie and applaud the whistleblowers of the World.

I love Will Smith's work. He'll always be "The Fresh of Bel-Air" to me, and I certainly believe he was born to play the title role of "Hitch", but he has become a master of the drama genre as well. His performances in "Ali" and "The Pursuit of Happyness" were pristine and refined, and Mr. Smith's performance in "Concussion" is on par with the aforementioned films. The film is extraordinary, and I'm puzzled once again why Mr. Smith didn't garner the Academy Award for this one.

The movie despite any opposition it may have received from the National Football League proved to be enlightening as well as entertaining. It only stands to reason that something has to give after the devastating blows taken by a player in the NFL and any other contact sport. Since the sport will not be done away with and is a strong source of income for many, my recommendation to those playing is to get out as soon as you have made your money and can afford to get out.
