A: No it doesn't. We cook with the lid sitting on the pot as with other crockpots. The fasteners are to prevent spillage if you need to move the crockpot or transport it when it is full.
Q: does it have an automatic shut off feature?
A: Crock Pot will go to keep warm then shut off after so long. As for the little dipper it doesn't have any way to set it low/high and no auto shut off. What ever you use it for you will have to keep an eye on it or it will burn.
Q: Since it's oven proof could it be used on a stove top ?
A: No, it is not suitable for stove top.
Q: Is there a seal on the lid?
A: Yes their is an lid locks as well
Q: Can you put frozen meat in this Crock-Pot?
A: I would recommend thawing frozen meat in refrigerator 12 to 24 hours
