Upgradable and Powerful PC
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI previously owned a Dell Inspiron Tower PC and I like the fact that front USB ports are located below the CD/DVD drawer so as to not have cords hanging over an open CD drawer. I also like that the PC is powerful, can easily multitask and is upgradeable if necessary. I may have more power than I’ll need but it’s better to have more power and not need it that to need it and not have it.

Best Value Gaming PC
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendPros - Solid build quality (fresh looking case) - Dell warranty/support - Processor/GPU speed & power more than sufficient for advanced usage (i.e. video editing/converting, gaming @1080p, day-to-day stuff) - 1TB hdd is good quality (seagate baracuda) - HDD upgradability (1xM.2 slot, 1x2.5" slot, 2x3.5" slots) - Lots of I/O, even USB-C Cons - Hard drive is slow for main (OS) *consider SSD upgrade if I were you - CPU & GPU runs a little on the warm side Other notes - (1) some strange reason my LAN port was disabled from the factory (2) the GPU seemed under powered, had to up the wattage to get everything running smoothly (crashes) (3) Wifi card is on the slow side

Overheats, locks up, shabby build
Posted .No, I would not recommend this to a friendI am a longtime Dell user. I've had a Dell Desktop in my home office since the early 1990s. I purchased this model to replace my previous XPS desktop. What a mistake. This desktop overheats frequently. Under basic, web-browsing usage, the fan will spin up loudly and never stop running until the PC is powered down completely. Even if you close all apps the fan never stops running. Worst of all, the PC freezes every so often. Can't use keyboard or mouse. All you can do is force a power down. The model I own was purchased April 2018 and I'm writing this review in September. The fan problems have been persistent from the start, so it's not a matter of a Windows PC's slow march to death. This is just a lemon product and not recommended.
Brand response from YourDellTeam
Posted .Robbo,
Thanks for your review and we're sorry to hear about the troubles that you've been facing. If you'd like some tips on keeping your laptop cooler you can try these:
Tips for Proper Usage:
1. Dell does not recommend placing portable systems directly on your lap. Due to reductions in the thickness of modern portable systems, heat transfer can be an issue.
2. Using a portable system (Laptop) on a hard, flat, non-cloth surface will increase airflow and reduce heat from underneath and inside the system.
Using the portable system on a blanket, pillow, or other types of cloth will cover up the fan cause the computer to overheat and can cause permanent damage.
3. It is recommended to use the portable system in a Room temperature of 0°C to 35°C (32°F to 95°F) with a Humidity level no greater than 90%.
4. Use compressed air to clean the vents on a regular basis.
5. Using a cooling pad can decrease heat and increase performance.
6. If you want to know the temperature limitations for your system, go to the Dell Support Website, look up your system model then open the user guide under the manuals link.
You can read the full article here - http://dell.to/2uJ8AdG.
If the fan is making too much noise for you we'd recommend updating the BIOS: An out-of-date BIOS can cause loud fan noises by having an outdated temperature table for the system. Refer to update BIOS and follow the instructions to update the BIOS on your computer. You can also follow up with our Technical Support Team here - 1-800-624-9896.

Lastly, if you are still experiencing freezes on your system please follow these steps:
1. Run a Computer Diagnostic. To determine if your computer is experiencing a hardware problem, run the Dell Preboot System Assessment (PSA) Diagnostics. For information on how to run Diagnostics, and to determine the issue, refer to Dell Knowledge Base Article: http://dell.to/2iaiujA.
2. Check Safe Mode for Symptoms. To boot into safe mode, please follow the instructions below:
a) Start the computer.
b) Tap 'F8' on the keyboard immediately and every one second until the Dell logo screen disappears. From there you will see the Windows Advanced Options Menu on the screen. (If the Windows Advanced Options Menu does not appear, restart the system and try again.)
c) Select Safe mode with Networking and press Enter.
d) Log on as the administrator or as a user with administrative access.
e) Open applications and test the computer in safe mode. If the symptoms exist in safe mode, please continue the troubleshooting steps in this article. If the symptoms do not exist in safe mode, the issue is likely related to a driver or software and you may wish to complete step 3 to see if you are able to resolve the lockups or freezing.
3. Check for Malware. Malware (Virus, Spyware, etc.) can definitely cause a Windows system to lock up or appear to hang. To check for malware on your system and to ensure that your computer is up to date on security software, visit Dell Knowledge Base Article: http://dell.to/2wWP1zI.

Q: QuestionCan this rig handle World of Warcraft on Ultra graphics? in raids and what not. debating this one or the 1039.00 set up
Asked by Cevelt.
- A:Answer No, not on Ultra. It will be too choppy, and unplayable in raid. 5 or 6 for world, and 4 for raid would be as high as I'd take it. Maybe 7 in world. I doubt the 1039.00 priced one will handle Ultra, either. RX580 (AMD) or GX1070 (Intel) would be the minimum I'd run ultra on World of Warcraft, along with 16G ram minimum. Especially once the new Xpac launches in August.
