I was impressed with the volume and quality of the sound with this mic. This is the first PC mic. I've used, so I wasn't sure what to expect at this price. I do have Realtek Audio Manager on my PC, so I was able to tweak the setting to my desire, including increasing the Mic. Boost to +10.0dB. I also swiveled the mic. the opposite way in the stand, to gain reach, and put it on top of a CD case for elevation. The sound is great, and same with the playback. With my setting I was able to speak and record clearly at approx. 5".

I recently purchased this microphone and while it's not perfect I'm happy with it. It's a good line-in mic, but there are a couple of things to be aware of before buying. I haven't had any problems with the build quality, but the stand is very light and the arm that holds the mic up looks like it could break quite easily. As long as you be careful with it it shouldn't be a big deal though. One problem I had (using Windows 7) was that the quality was very poor when I first started using it. I highly recommend going into the Sound control panel and shutting off Echo Cancellation in Microphone Effects as that severely limits the sound range. Just shutting that off made a huge difference in quality. Hopefully that helps you if you're having that problem. Other than that I'm very satisfied with the microphone. Sound quality is very good for the price and there's no setup at all: just plug it into a line-in jack on your computer and you should be up and running.

For the price, you shouldn't expect top quality hardware. You plug it in, it works, and that's pretty much the end of it. Be aware, though, that the cable is fairly short (4' instead of the usual 6'), so it may not fit your particular setup. The sound quality is decent, as long as you turn on the mic boost, and the range is decent (Works well from 1-2 feet away). The physical construction of it, however, is about what you'd expect for this price. The stand is sturdy enough, but the swivel is weak (Vertical only, and started to slip within a couple months for me). The microphone itself is easy to break (Knocked to the floor once, and the arm cracked), but if you play nice with it, it should last long enough for the price.
