I am so happy to finally join the Dyson club
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Took about 8 mins to piece together. Now runs like a dream. Used it on a rug that I’ve tried to vacuum several times with another hoover, and in one go with the Dyson I could hear dirt and debris that hasn’t been picked up previously rattling up and into the catchment compartment. It’s super easy to use. Rolls well, and transitions from hard surface to rug effortlessly. Turns corners well too with the roller ball. The alternative suction wand thing works really well too, and it’s handy that a couple attachments for it connect directly to the main vacuum, so you don’t have them getting lost somewhere in the house. It is heavier than many vacuums, and you may find it tedious going up and down stairs. The price you pay for having clean floors. Or just buy one for each floor in your house, and problem solved! Recommended.

Great performance
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I already own an expensive Kirby vacuum which I hate. It's heavy, very difficult to use and shreds belts like nobody's business. I decided to purchase this particular Dyson vacuum based on my daughter's satisfaction of her own 8-year-old Dyson Animal vacuum, the compilation of other reviews here and the fact that it does not have a belt. I have 2 cats and several environmental allergies so a good vacuum is very important to me. I used my new Dyson for the first time tonight after I read the directions. The booklet's pictorial directions were not clear about how to disengage the attachment wand, but Dyson's You Tube tutorial easily solved that problem. Oh my goodness, the amount of hair and dirt this new machine picked up - easily - was simply amazing and it was actually fun to use! I'm actually looking forward to challenging it's performance again soon, and for years to come.

Effective and effortless
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There's no match for this one. I can't believe what an amazing job it does and I'm talking four Huge German Shepherds and a couple of cats and it makes lightning quick work of the aftermath. Just love the pet brushing attachment that Dyson makes for this too... Never will I buy a different brand of vacuum after owning this one, and BestBuy couldn't be outdone for price and availability as usual...

Holy Moly
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After our 3rd vacuum in 5 years broke, I went to Best Buy for a Hoover they had on sale for $139. The salesman happily got the model for me, but casually mentioned the Dyson was on sale. I told him it was still too expensive, but I'd happily take a look. After learning about Dyson's 5 year warranty and Best Buy's 4 year warranty stacked on that, I decided to try the Dyson. My friends who have them have had them for close to a decade with no issue. THe first room I vacuumed at home had the canister filled with dust and dog hair (our dog is even a breed that doesn't shed much). And we had JUST vacuumed this room before our vacuum broke. It was amazing and disgusting all at them same time...see the I'm excited to see if our allergies lessen at home now that we are actually getting most out of our carpets!

Solid Buy / Value Questionable
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The vacuum is serviceable and easy to maneuver around tight areas and in small spaces. Pros: Lightweight, visually appealing, strong suction and works on different surfaces. Cons: If you are using attachments and have the tower stationary, it’s possible it tilts over, this happens more often than I would like, some of the attachments and features feel cheaply made, ex: sometimes I feel that a piece is going to snap. Overall: Solid vacuum, does it’s job on carpet and/or smooth surfaces, but for price it seems to be a little high for value.

Best for asthma and allergies
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love dyson products. Always the best for ppl with asthma and pets. It sucked out soo much dust out of my carpet it shocked me. This saved my allergies aswell. Only flaw it feels kinda cheap cuz of the cheap plastic. Wish it was a thicker plastic that doesn’t scratch soo easily.

Amazing for dog hair
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We recently adopted a pit lab mix who sheds A LOT. This vacuum has been a life saver. If you look at the photos, the hair in the vacuum is from one day and just from the small brown carpet area in the photo. This vacuum actually picks up everything and it even works on our shag rug! A great buy and very easy to use and to empty.

Q: Questionhow come I can barley push it on my carpet
Asked by bren.
- A:Answer I just received my vacuum. It came having this issue. Found tons of comments and reviews that make it sound as though this behavior is a feature (of improved suction) and not a bug. I already filed a warranty claim. THEN.. I found a video on youtube that everyone on this thread needs to see. I'll summarize the takeaway.. the filter on the side of the ball is not installed correctly; there are two arrows that need to be aligned perfectly. In his video, his was off by a small fraction of an inch. When I unscrewed the filter housing, I saw that mine also came pre-installed misaligned by a small fraction of an inch. I twisted the filter slightly so the arrows lined up, then screwed the filter housing back into place. Turned the vacuum on and.. suddenly it works correctly.. without any drag on either bare floor or carpet. Amazing.. such a simple fix isn't better known.. either in owner comments/discussions or by Dyson's customer service agents.. who were extremely nice and did their best to be helpful.. but they need to be trained about such issues. On the one hand, I'm disappointed that I wasted so much time today on this. On the other hand, I'm happy that my new vacuum is now working perfectly.. and amazed that such a simple fix did the trick. To others.. please spread this info. No silly hacks are needed. Original video showing this solution: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g3a8Y6MsHAw

Q: QuestionWe have the Dyson animal 2 and it’s near impossible to push on carpet. We can’t find the height adjuster, can you please help?
Asked by Bunkball.
- A:Answer I agree with the reviewer who called Dyson out about the Animal 2 having too much suction for normal carpets. I have hardwood floors and LARGE area rugs. My carpets are not shag, nor are they considered "deep pile." However, the vacuum is almost impossible to push. On a previous Dyson I was advised to either drill holes to allow more air into the height leveler or to add washers to increase the distance between the brush roller/suction tube and the carpet. Both would let more air in, reducing the suction. I also noticed that one person posted the suggestion that one remove the rubber portion of the height adjustment bar altogether. Tomorrow I will be on the phone with Dyson. It is ridiculous to spend this much on a vacuum cleaner that doesn't work.I read reviews but several people said that they worked fine on shag and deep pile carpeting. Tomorrow I will be on the phone with Dyson. It is ridiculous to spend this much on a vacuum cleaner that doesn't work.

Q: QuestionHow is this Dyson animal any different than the previous model?
Asked by Grandma.
- A:Answer This model has about a 10% increase in suction over similar models . It has a suction of 270 AW compared to 245 AW in the other similar models . The Cinetic models have even less suction . I have various other models and this one , by far , has the most suction of them all .

Q: QuestionHello, Will human hair end up wrapping around the brush? The current vacuum we have does this and cutting it off it way too time consuming.
Asked by MSM23.
- A:Answer Hi there, this is Krystal with Dyson. Thank you for your interest in the Dyson Ball Animal 2. The Ball series is our strongest powered upright. Most debris will end up in the canister. However, it is common for some hair to wrap itself around the brushbar and regular brushbar maintenance is recommended. Best Wishes, Krystal Dyson Customer Service

- A:Answer We've added 1 furniture slider (1in by 4 inches long) on the front part of the beater head? It glides better and still pick up very well.

Q: Questionhow does this vacuum cleaner handle dust and cat litter?
Asked by LC.
- A:Answer Hello! This is Miella from Dyson. While our machines are awesome for dust, we do not recommend using our machine with cat litter as this can cause unpleasant odor and can damage the filter and cyclone shroud. Hope this helps! Miella Dyson Customer Service
