Synopsis

Everybody's Fine
Widower Frank Goode has had to make plenty of adjustments since losing his wife about a year ago, but maybe the hardest one has been maintaining his relationships with his four adult children. It would seem that Frank's wife was the glue who held the family together, and when all of the kids bug out on a planned visit home, he decides to set out on a trip around the country, dropping in on each of their lives in order to help put things right. But their relationships aren't as simple as they once seemed, and Frank's paternal intuition is telling him that his sons and daughters are hiding something from him - and if the Goodes want to become the family they once were, the truth will have to come out before Frank returns home. ~ Cammila Collar, Rovi

Frank Goode (played by Robert DeNiro), a widower and father of four children is desperate to strengthen his relationship with said children after the passing of their mother, his wife, as she'd been the one they always went to. Be it for advice, consolation, or simply company, they would call his wife first. Rather than accept that, Frank resolves to get all of his children together for dinner, but his first attempt is met with last-minute cancellations from three children and no reply whatsoever from the fourth. Rather than accept this, he decides to travel the country and ask them in person despite his failing health due to poor working conditions. It's not one of those diabetes inducing family films we've become accustomed to, but there's a lot more truth to it than most and that's what makes it quality.

If you currently have children progressing through pre-adulthood and worry if you are raising them right or if you have brothers and sisters that may be "keeping" things from mom or dad you'll apprciate this movie. I'm buying copies for all my siblings this Christmas. Happy Holidays! You'll want to call your parents and tell them how you're doing after watching this one.

Seeing how an old school father deals with his kids who are becoming distant after the loss of their mother figure is the point of this film. DeNiro does an amazing job. You can almost feel his loss. The casting for his kids could have been MUCH better. Still a decent film nonetheless.

A wonderful movie for mature (more life-experienced) people. Younger people may get bored or lose interest, but most mature people will "get it" and think about it for a couple days after watching it.

Great atypical role for DeNiro. I think the casting could have been better for his kids, but overall the performances presented did the job. Touching message. Good film.
