Q: Where is this scale manufactured?

A: Designed in US but manufactured in Taiwan. Debbie with Garmin

Q: Is this scale compatible with VivoActive 3?

A: The device syncs to your Connect account and not through the device. Please go to support.garmin.com where you'll find helpful FAQ's and video's on the functions of the device. If you still need assistance you can reach out to a product support associate from that link. Debbie with Garmin

Q: Can someone weigh themselves without it being attached to an account? Like if a guest just wants to check their weight, or if I want to weigh our cat by holding it, then subtracting out my weight. I don't want that to be recorded in my Garmin app

A: I found you can connect with up to sixteen different Garmin accounts, but it always assigns a weight to one of those accounts. So I created a dummy Garmin account (named "CATS") to weigh my cats. I weigh me holding a cat, then subtract my weight to get theirs. "CATS" is collecting a whole lot of weird weights, but I just ignore them. "CATS" could also be used if a guest wanted to use my scale. But Garmin, if you're listening, it would be nice to have a setting for just weighing someone without storing it to a Garmin account.

Q: Do you have to own a Garmin device to connect with the scale app?

A: The scale doesn't talk directly to my Garmin watch. It talked to the Garmin app on my smartphone during setup, and now it talks directly to my Garmin web account. My Garmin phone app collects the data from both my watch and my scale, but the watch and scale don't talk to each other at all.

Q: What is the maximum weight on this scale?

A: The Garmin Index Scale is capable of supporting up to 400 lbs (181.4 kg) of weight. It is required that you step on the scale with your bare feet. It is not recommended to step on the scale while wearing heels as this may damage the glass surface of the scale. Debbie with Garmin

Q: Is there any app I could use on my iWatch?

A: The Index S2 smart scales will work well for multiple family/team members and will work well when switched between multiple dwellings. I had zero issues with the data immediately getting to the correct Garmin Connect account and linking it onto the Apple environment was relatively straightforward, although there are few nuances with sharing data from Apple Health.

Q: Can BestBuy set it up for me at my house?

A: Yes, but they will charge more than the price of scale.

Q: Does a Fitbit tracker sync withit

A: The scale uses Garmin Connect to sync your weight. That being said, it may be possible, to get your weight into the fitbit app. I did this previously (before switching to a Garmin watch). It required linking up Garmin to MyFitnessPal and MyFitnessPal to Fitbit. While I was able to get it to work, it required some manual syncing, so it is not recommended to do it this way. If you are into fitness, I do recommend checking out the Garmin fitness tracker offerings. I prefer their capability and eco-system over fitbit.
