A: There is metal in the buckle. There is a small screw that is inset in the hard plastic and not really exposed. I am.not sure what material the heart rate/ pulse ox sensor is made from.
A: I would agree with the reviews. I've owned the Vivosmart 4 for about 2 months. Have worn it almost that entire time. It cannot detect if you fall asleep for let's say a nap in the afternoon. You tell the device when your typical bedtime and wake-up times are and it seems to be looking for sleep during that time. Within that period it is good at picking up my sleep period. The sleep function is OK...not great. Here's an example: I woke up one night around 1:30 am. Got out of bed and it accurately recorded that wake-up time. However, I fell back asleep around 3 am on the couch and it did not detect that second sleep period.
Q: Is this like the other Garmin fitness tracker? Can you use this in a pool to swim?
A: Yes, my wife swims with hers and you can set the activity to Swim.

Q: Does this need Bluetooth on all the time
A: It will work when Bluetooth is off but won't get weather and messages. Once you turn the Bluetooth on it will load your stats to the app.
A: There isn't an option for cycling on this device, however, you could use the Cardio profile and it would do time, heart rate and show calories burned during the activity. Debbie with Garmin
