A Genius Movie, Way Ahead Of It's Time
|Posted .Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed.I would recommend this to a friendWhen I first watched this movie, a little over 23 years ago, I had sever misgivings to both the logic and philosophy behind it. Frankly, I was annoyed by it. Don't get me wrong... I liked the movie, enjoyed it immensely... it fascinated me in a hundred different ways, but it challenged my perception of the future as I imagined it. But, I just couldn't swallow the idea that natural born humans would be second class citizens, while genetically altered humans were spearheading humanity's future, it effected me profoundly. Like I said, it challenged my preferred perception of the future. And then... just a couple months after seeing Gattaca in theaters for the first time, I watched The Fifth Element, which also came out that year in December. Laden with a few book acquisitions from a neighboring used book store and sucking on Venti Coffee Frappuccino, I watched The Fifth Element with my friends at a cozy, somewhat classical and intimate movie theater. And... I had loved The Fifth Element, adored it, it fit perfectly with my vision of the future. I know! The Fifth Element was cheesy and corny, but it was also intense, stylized, and vibrant in its vision. This is where the debate began; the laying out of imaginative constructs, the petty arguing, the late night Denny's discussions, the ultra geeked-out dissections of every cinematic nuance that fired up our imaginations. The movies were very different from one another, true. The Fifth Element was a throbbing, cultural assault on a distant future that both comforted and entertained us, while Gattaca was an austere slap down for a socially sever and very near possible future. These movies to this very day still hold value, if you are willing to give them the time. I keep both The Fifth Element and Gattaca right next to each other on the shelf filled with future inspired Sci-Fi like Ready Player One, Demolition Man, and Elysium. Gattaca is worth every penny, especially for a 4K steelbook edition. It has become a cult favorite amongst geeks!

In 4k it's just like seeing movie in theater
|Posted .Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed.I would recommend this to a friendI did see this movie in the theater when it first came out. The 4k is so great on a 4k large Sony TV and surround sound speaks it was like seeing it in the theater again. I really loved the story line ( I had forgotten the police officer was his brother) . 4k is really WORTH THE PRICE especially when they are on sale.

Buy Crispr Stock Now
|Posted .Owned for 1 week when reviewed.I would recommend this to a friendI have owned this movie on DVD since 2004. Classic movie, it was only right I made this purchase. Picture quality looks great on the 4K UHD television. Sound quality was equally impressive, so good in fact I was able to distinctively hear Mya Rudolph’s voice and I never knew she was in the movie. This movie was ahead of its time, because the tech is coming to fruition.

Great movie with a nice 4k master and Atmos audio
|Posted .Owned for 1 week when reviewed.I would recommend this to a friendIt's great to see this movie get a 4K treatment. The Atmos audio is great for those who have the setup to appreciate the immersive sound. Some people may not like the some of the darker grains but the front depth of field looks great. Keep in mind, they're pulling this movie from the 35mm cellulose. But compared to what we had before, this is great.

Classic
|Posted .Owned for 1 week when reviewed.I would recommend this to a friendOne of my favorite films, so glad to own the steelbook. Great script, direction, and acting. A powerful film with a great message. You are more than the sum of your genetic code. Well, there’s so much more to the story than that. A must see film, via rent or physical purchase. What are you waiting for?
