A noisy worker

Installation we did ourselves, wasn’t too hard but also not easy either. Took 3 of us to get it hung on the rather obscure hanging rack. I do part time house flipping so no stranger to
Home diy. It looks good, works fine but a few things could be improved. Firstly it’s SO noisy. Like airplane taking off noisy. We’ve checked the exhaust setup and it’s just a noisy unit. Secondly, it doesn’t allow minutes and seconds to be setup because once you press a number it sets off as if that’s all you want. A bit silly.otherwise it works well and that’s about it.
Love my new microwave! I have an older kitchen in my condo which is getting a total rehab next year and the microwave was tiny and old and on the counter. I went ahead and got this one and installed some cheap cabinets overhear because there wasn’t a space for one yet. I love the microwave. It does everything I need a microwave to do. It’s a basic microwave. Perfect for my needs and such an upscaled version of that old microwave on the counter.
This Microwave is not feature packed! My last one was and when it stopped working I realized I had not used half the features on it!
This is just what I needed all alone. Looks nice, quieter than my last one. Slate finish looks good in my kitchen.
love this microwave. GE products are the best.
Learned a lesson on "microwaves" never buy one that fell or damaged while being packaged or in store, no matter how low the price, Because if that door gets out of line even a hair it will cause the fuse to blow constantly. Just buy one that is 100% in superb condition.
Perfect bisque color and BRIGHT light on stove top
My old Maytag brand microwave quit cooking. I thought it would be difficult to match the bisque colors of the old microwave since it would be right over the Maytag stove and beside the Maytag fridge. But this GE was the perfect light color. The second great thing is that the lights of this microwave are so bright! I love it. There is high and low light. Low light was the brightness of my previous microwave. I put it in myself and my only trouble was that I had put some other holes in the upper cabinet with the original microwave. This new one would add an additional 3 holes. I ended up putting down a 1/4" piece of plywood in the cabinet and drilling the three new holes through that. The only problem I had besides that was with the glass turntable. It was much larger than the previous one and on the first day, I hit and CHIPPED the glass turntable as I was lifting a casserole dish into the oven. Am considering contacting GE.
A:AnswerHi - The Upfront Filter design found on select GE Series and Profile Series over-the-range microwaves allows for easy access to the charcoal filter and requires no tools to change the filter. Open the microwave door and press the access panel above the cavity opening where it says "PUSH" to lower the panel door. Models with an Upfront Filter have a Reset Filter notification light on the control panel to indicate when it is time to change the filter. The light will illuminate after approximately 6 months of use to alert user to replace the charcoal filter (if used) and clean/replace the grease filters. Reset by pushing and hold 3 seconds. When the Filter Replace LED turned on,
replace filter and press Reset Filter and hold for 3seconds to reset. If the filter light remains on after reset, try resetting the microwave electronics by unplugging or by turning off power at the circuit breaker for 30 seconds or so. A:AnswerHi-this is Sue from GE. Thanks for your interest! The blower will need to be rotated for indoor (recirculating) venting. The directions are provided in the installation instructions included with the microwave. Also, the recirculating charcoal filter is included. The turntable can be turned off when using larger dishes. Model JNM3161DFBB is the same microwave except assembled for indoor (recirculating) venting. Thanks for checking with us!
A:AnswerHi AGST- This is Sue at GE Appliances. Thanks for your purchase! The cardboard cover on the right top or side wall of the microwave interior is there by design. The cardboard (mica) covers the waveguide system that feeds microwave energy into the cavity and should not be removed. The microwave should not be used for any function if this cardboard cover is not in place. If removed, it would require service to replace. Thanks for checking with us!
A:AnswerHi -this is Sue from GE. Thanks for your interest in our GE model JVM3160RFSS. We appreciate your loyalty!
Our 30" over-the-range microwaves are designed to be installed in the same standard upper cabinet space (30" min. width, 12" min.-13" max. depth). The height and depth of the models may vary slightly. The top mounting is basically the same. You will need to use the back wall mounting bracket included with the new model as they are similar but not interchangeable.
Your model, JNM1851SM2SS was shipped assembled for recirculating (indoor) venting. Model JVM3160RFSS is shipped assembled for outdoor venting. If you choose model JVM3160, you will also need to purchase the optional recirculating charcoal filter JX81L and follow the recirculating venting instructions in the installation guide.
You may want to consider model JNM3161RFSS. It is the same model except is shipped assembled for recirculating (indoor) venting. You can view online at:
Thanks for checking with us. Enjoy!
A:AnswerYes, you can either vent back into the room or through an external vent. I vented internally. The configuration was easy, hardest part was installing the filter. It took a bit of finesse to remove the panel from the front of the unit.
