Q: Is there a way to lower the brightness of the clock on the microwave display
A: I had the same issue. The display on my HB microwave was so bright it lit up the room! I tried to find a display adjustment, but it was nonexistent. So, I took a small piece of painters' tape and simply covered that panel. I can see what is says but it no longer blinds me by the light!
A: No, this unit does not have sensor cooking.
Q: Does this model vent through the top?
A: Hi Susan- The microwave is shipped from the factory to vent outdoors out the top (vertically), but can also be vented out the rear (horizontally) or recirculating (non-vent indoors). Each microwave comes with the mounting hardware (mounting bracket, screws, exhaust adapter), top and rear templates, and installation instructions needed to make installation a simple process. This makes choosing a replacement microwave easy. NOTE: When replacing an over-the-range microwave, the mounting bracket included with the new microwave should be used since the mounting bracket is specific to each model. The new screws, bolts, and exhaust adapter should also be used. Nice appliance!
So far so good. The microwave performs well and matches my GE range. The only weird thing is that the fan runs automatically when you turn on the microwave, and i haven't figured out how to turn it off.

Pretty good microwave
Installation of the microwave was fairly easy. The door shuts loudly and definitely does not feel as sturdy as the GE Profile (10 years old) that I am replacing. The buttons are ok, but you really have to push to get them to activate. I am not in love with the new GE, but for the price point and compared to others in the same price range I feel like this was a good deal.
