    • Washing Mechanism: Agitator (There are two washing mechanisms to choose from in today's washing machines: agitators or impellers. An agitator is a column located in the center of the washing tub. It may be finned or vaned, and works to clean clothes by rotating and rubbing against clothes to break down stains. An impeller is a low-profile cone at the bottom of the tub that uses fins, cones, or discs to create motion. This motion pushes clothes to rub against each other, versus against an agitator, to break down dirt.)
    • Agitator Type: Dual-action (A single-action agitator typically rotates one way to circulate clothes throughout the washer. A dual-action agitator has two parts that rotate differently; the top rotates to push clothes down toward the bottom of the tub while the bottom continues to move clothes in a circular motion. Triple-action agitators work similarly, but add a third up-and-down motion to the dual rotation.)

Q: Is there a hot wash only option? The display picture shows the selection as hot/warm/colors. Does that indicate that the machine picks the temperature and you can't choose just plain hot?

A: These new machines have preset temperatures. Meaning hot is mixed with cold to maintain what GE says the temperature should be. No more days of 131degree water to allergens and dust mites. They want you to use Oxi and Sanitze cycle forget the water temp which is what NSF says the temp needs to be to kill these allergens. No deep fill or deep rinse on normal cycle either and a few others. Do you research there videos are misleading. Machine is incapable of filling up all the way. Best is 1/2 to 2/3s and that pressing the buttons. Look at the 2016 and the new 2018 guidelines that just went into effect in January. They all must have auto load sensors which are no longer hackable and even thought they have bigger drums they do not fill up. What you see on you tube are videos from them of the older models before these new guidelines. The water temperatures are preset as well so if you really want hot water it doesn’t matter if you turn up your hot water heater that preset is going to add cold water no matter what.

Q: Can you please explain what sanitize with Oxi option is?

A: Hi Magz - The Sanitize With Oxi cycle, when using an Oxi additive along with your detergent, is designed to remove 99.9% of bacteria found in home laundry. Measure the detergent and the Oxi products carefully using the amounts recommended by the products' manufacturers. Use the amounts for a large heavily soiled load. For the Sanitize With Oxi cycle: Add the clothes and then place the detergent and Oxi product directly on top of the load. The washer hot water supply connection must provide a minimum of 120°F to ensure the effectiveness of this cycle. The default "Sanitize With Oxi" cycle water temperature can not be changed. The Sanitize With Oxi cycle is certified by NSF International, an independent third party testing and certification organization. The certification verified that the cycle reduced 99.9% of bacteria typically found in residential laundry and that no significant contamination is transferred to subsequent washer loads. Only the Sanitize With Oxi cycle has been designed to meet the requirements of NSF Protocol P172 for sanitizing effectiveness. Q: How do you use the clean basket cycle on a GE washing machine side side load model number wcvh6800j1ww

A: Hello Jdominguez - Thank you for reaching out about your washer. We are happy to help. On model wcvh6800j1ww, pour one cup of bleach into the empty tub and select the basket clean cycle. The machine will run for about 90 minutes. Do not interrupt the cycle. Leave the door open when the cycle is complete to help ventilate the bleach smell. Let us know if you have any more questions.

Q: What is the difference between this machine,GTW685BSLWSSKU: 5835847 and GTW680BSJWSSKU: 4374301 beside the 0.1 cu ft capacity? Are these two machines big enough to wash a king size comforter? Will clothes pick up odor like older front loading washers?

A: Hi LeeBaby- This is Sue at GE Appliances. The main differences between these models are the capacity and agitator. GTW685BSLWS is the latest model and has a dual-action agitator- Powerful reversing wash action rotates your laundry for a thorough clean every time. Play Video: https://www.youtube.com/embed/tRtHk5hk8v4?rel=0 - GTW680BSJWS has an Infusor with recirculation pump. Loads are thoroughly saturated with this recirculation pump that moves water and detergent through clothes. Top-load washers with an Infusor will not have a traditional agitator. The Infusor replaces the agitator and is approximately 7 1/2" high and has a wide base (wash plate) that works alone or with the wash basket to provide different types of wash action. With an Infusor, the clothes stay near the wash plate. The mechanical action of the Infusor moves the clothes through the water and against the sides of the tub and down around the Infusor. Play Video: https://www.youtube.com/embed/LK-SW1TzyK8?rel=0 - Both models offer "Bulky Items" cycle ideal for water-resistant, bedding and bulky items, such as large coats, mattress pads, and bath mats. Provides a Deep Fill/max fill wash water level. Also incorporates a Deep Fill rinse to effectively rinse bulky items and a low spin speed appropriate for these items. Any size comforter will wash properly as long as it fits below the balance ring of the washer tub and is not stuffed in the tub tightly. You should not experience the described odor problem. Both models feature a Basket Clean cycle. This Basket Clean cycle should be performed, at a minimum, once per month. This cycle will use more water, in addition to bleach, to control the rate at which soils and detergents may accumulate in your washer. Washer odors are usually caused by leaving the washer lid closed when not in use. This does not allow air to circulate and dry out the moisture remaining in the tub area. The air and moisture mixture becomes stagnant and creates an odor. When the washer is not in use, leaving the lid up/open for air circulation will help prevent odor. Keep in touch. We are always eager to help!

Q: How long is a heavy wash cycle and how long is a standard wash cycle???

A: 62 minutes for heavy duty. There are different standard cycles depending on the type of load. My favorite casuals cycle is 38 minutes. I’m very happy with this machine.

Q: Model #: GTW685BSLWS I have this machine and have tried everything. I want to wash and rinse in cold only and I can not figure it out

A: Hi Cbashir - Thanks for choosing GE! To wash in cold, select Temp: Tap Cold (Tap Cold uses incoming tap water, which can provide energy savings). For a Cold Rinse, make sure the light is off above Warm Rinse option. Q: is this washer HE or traditional agitator model? Is it comparable to Profile easy touch - never went off balance - loved that about my GE and is it good with removing stains?

A: Hi need2bcln- Thanks for viewing! GTW685BSLWS is equipped with a dual-action agitator that provides powerful reversing wash action as it rotates your laundry for a thorough clean every time. Play Video: https://www.youtube.com/embed/tRtHk5hk8v4?rel=0 - Also, loosen stubborn stains by soaking up to 2 hours with Auto Soak option. Play Video: https://www.youtube.com/embed/A8Nu7V8fUfY?rel=0 - And the Stain Removal Guide option cleans 5 of the most common stains with preprogrammed settings that modify any cycle to help remove blood, tomato, wine, dirt and grass. Choose "Sanitize with Oxi" cycle to remove 99.9% of bacteria with a dedicated cycle that uses an Oxi additive to boost your detergent’s cleaning power, while keeping fabrics looking and feeling their best. This washer is certainly comparable to your Profile Series with Auto Balance Suspension System. We hope you love these great features as much as we do. Keep in touch! SUE@GEA

Q: Do I select the amount of water or does the machine?

A: Hi Sheri- This is Sue at GE Appliances. The washer features Precise Fill (or Auto Load Sensing). Precise Fill allows the washer to determine the optimum water required to wash the items in the basket. Precise Fill senses the load during the water filling portion of the cycle to determine how much water is needed. It also features Deep Fill option. Customize your water-fill levels with just the touch of a button. Add a little extra or fill the tub to wash the way you want. Play Video: https://www.youtube.com/embed/CpfTCH8O-Ac?rel=0 - You'll also enjoy the Deep Rinse option. When selected, the deep rinse cycle ensure clothes are rinsed of soap residue and fabric softener. Play Video: https://www.youtube.com/embed/fbkVOdkZJ5E?rel=0 - Keep in touch!
