A: you are correct. The depth of the door when measured from the side is 2.5" however there is an arch outward at the handles and is 4" deep.
Q: How much ice does the in-door ice maker hold? And how fast does it replenish ice.?

A: Yes to both questions. There is a small lever that you pull, then lift up the tray. I have never had the ice fall out. Not sure I'm really answering your question though. The ice tray is in the refrigerator portion (top left door), so you don't don't open the freezer door to get to the ice tray. Maybe that was just on your Samsung.
A: I had the same problem. Just keep pressing the temp button and it will keep going up and then go back to the lowest setting. The control panel on "Profile" leaves much to be desired. My 9 year old GE Profile had a much better control panel. Hope this helps.

GE Profile Counter-depth SS
Nice frig. Pros: bright LED lighting, good shelf layout, quiet, nice touch control panel, deep freezer for a counter-depth model. Cons: doors stiff to open/close (it's new), door ice limited capacity, butter compartment door is so small it's hard to grasp/open. The salesman did not mention the available second freezer ice maker. I ordered it and installed myself.

GE refrigerator
The GE refrigerator is a nice and working very good as I was expecting; beside the service from BestBuy is great service like helping me to load it and honest. I do recommend to anyone that should come to see all alliances with low prices to compare to others.

Great counter depth refrigerator
Very nice refrigerator. The features on this GE model are great. The autofill on the water dispenser is a game changer. The ice maker has a little smaller bin, but is ample and makes ice quickly. You can also add an optional ice maker in the freezer if you need more ice. The fridge is full width, so do expect any allowance for a tight fit. If the fridge is against the wall, you will need a least 1/4" of swing for the door to allow it to fully open. The freezer is very large, considering the counter depth.
