Cool food efficiently with this modern GE French-door refrigerator. This 22.2-cubic-foot unit has showcase lighting that illuminates the interior and an automatic in-door water dispenser to free up your hands so you can complete other tasks. The full-width drawer-style freezer of this GE French-door refrigerator has three temperature settings to optimize your food storage.
I’ve had this for over a year and am very happy with it. I’ve never written a review for an appliance, so that says something about this. I almost went with an LG or Samsung, but the appliance saleswoman said there is a reason her store doesn’t sell them — because their repair department hates them. When they break, it’s near impossible to get parts. I might be willing to go a few weeks without a working dishwasher, but not a fridge.
Anyhoo, I love this fridge. The top french doors makes it easy to find things, and the bottom freezer holds a lot. And since we dip into the freezer much less often, it makes the top that much easier to use.
The fridge comes with an ice maker in the top left door, which is dispensed on the front of the door. They have this great “auto-water” feature. Stick a glass or pitcher on the (extendable) ledge and press AUTO and it will fill the vessel up near to the top. Very handy if you are filling a 64 ounce pitcher. You don’t have to sit there and hold it pressed in for a minute. It stops a little before the top, and you can manually top it off.
This fridge also has a spot in the bottom freezer for a second ice maker! I bought mine from the company that starts with the big-A. When the delivery guys arrived, I slipped them $50 for them to install it. They did it in under 5 minutes, so it was well worth it. During the summer I always have plenty of ice.
I purchased mine from the company that starts with the big-C. Like most appliances they carry, they have a special model number which is different than the big box stores. It is off by one letter, so you can compare them easily. In fact, when it was delivered, the model number was identical to the ones sold by the box store. I tell you this because in my experience, no matter what, buying from C will always cost $50-$100 less than any appliance or box store when you factor in delivery, haul away, installation fees, etc. Add up the final cost for every fee, and no one can match them. In fact, I wanted to buy from the saleswoman I mentioned above because she gave good service and advice. C was $100 less and she couldn’t match it. I asked her if she could come down $50 and meet me in the middle because I thought she deserved the commission so I was willing to pay more just so she could get it. I could justify paying $50 more, but not $100. I should have bought her a gift card.

I HAVE OWNED THIS FOR A LITTLE OVER A YEAR AND I AM ON MY THIRD REPAIR. THE WORST PART OF MY EXPERIENCE HAS BEEN GE’S CUSTOMER SERVICE. ON MY LATEST SERVICE REQUEST THE TECHNICIAN NEVER SHOWED UP (EVEN THOUGH I SPOKE TO HIM EARLIER IN THE DAY TO CONFIRM THE APPOINTMENT). I SPENT AN HOUR ON THE PHONE WITH GE TO RESCHEDULE. I HAD TO WAIT AN ENTIRE WEEK. WHEN THE SAME TECHNICIAN DID ACTUALLY SHOW UP, HE SAID BECAUSE THE PART HE NEEDED WASN’T DELIVERED HE COULDN’T DO ANYTHING. I ASKED HIM TO WAIT WHILE I CALLED GE CUSTOMER SERVICE…..HE TOLD ME HE HAD TO LEAVE. I ASKED WHY HE DIDN’T SHOW UP THE PREVIOUS WEEK, HE TOLD ME “I HAD THINGS TO DO”. WHEN I ASKED HIM HIS NAME HE SAID…..”CALL GE, THEY WILL TELL YOU MY NAME”…..AND HE WALKED OUT.MY WHOLE FAMILY WAS IN SHOCK. I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED ANYTHING LIKE THIS. IT IS NOW 5:30 PM AND I AM WAITING FOR THE 3RD ATTEMPTED SERVICE CALL. HAVE NOT HEARD OR SEEN FROM ANYONE. THREE DAYS OF WAITING AND THREE WEEKS AFTER ORIGINAL CALL AND WE STILL DO NOT HAVE ICE OR WATER. TRYING TO DEAL WITH GE CUSTOMER SERVICE TO COMPLAIN IS FUTILE SO I AM LEAVING THIS REVIEW ANYWHERE I CAN TO WARN OTHERS. I WILL NEVER BUY A GE APPLIANCE EVER AGAIN!

We bought this model based on the solid repair record, and we were looking for a French Door. The pros: 1) with our former side-by-side there was always a problem with wide objects like party trays. French doors solve that. Also have more room for tall objects & bottles with this design. 2) Freezer on the bottom is great 3) inside lighting and design very aesthetically pleasing. The cons: 1) If this model came in white we would have gotten it instead. The SS finish has no resistance at all to fingerprints, has to be wiped down every day 2) There is 1 drawer that you can't open unless you open both doors. That lets a lot of the cool out. 3) This model is very low energy, which means it cools down very slowly. You have to turn on the Turbo Cool setting to get the temp back to 40 degrees if you leave it open very long. If GE still made the model with a drink window, we would have preferred that to reduce the number of door openings. All in all, we're happy with it because it does what we bought it for; were also very happy with Geek Squad installation. A very very busy household might be better off with a different style.

This fridge is beautiful, the smudge proof finish is great.
Pros: the finish, doors feel heavy and sturdy, auto fill option is fun (plus it tells you how many oz your getting), lighting is plenty.
Cons: the doors off not even (the right side sits lower on the hinges), the deli drawer requires both doors to be open to access it (didn't realize it till after i made the purchase), the touch screen is not perfect, you have to touch it just right for the buttons to work, water lines in the back are a bit long and got kinked during installation, freezer racks come off the hinges sometimes.
This purchase was an emergency purchase. I love the design and style but they could have put a bit more effort in making the plastic inside feel a bit more higher end for a Profile version. Overall im still happy with it and it works like is should

I purchased whole kitchen of GE Slate appliances. All were good except the refrigerator which is over priced and quality is poor. (Stick with LG). Freezer interior drawer rollers are cheap plastic and it just rolls on top of a plastic track so it comes off a lot which is very annoying. LG has luxury drawer tracks like a cabinet would have. The actual freezer drawer tracks are poor quality as well. (Same issue for frig drawers, tracks but are slightly better). Ice/Water in door is one lever combo with touch control to change back and forth unlike LG that has two levers eliminating the need for changing every time you want a drink. Finish is nice if you are like me and don't like finger print problem with stainless. Although this finish scratches easily. There is only a water filter and no air filter unlike LG that had both and GE water filters are more expensive. All in all this refrigerator is ok, but not great and considering the price, yes I would suggest LG over GE.

This GE Refrigerator Exhibits Design Flaws/Defects

Follow-up review:
First unit leaked water from the water dispenser spout (slow drip); auto fill did not always fill up to the top of container as it should have; had a broken gear on the freezer drawer; froze our food in the refrigerator (set to 37F; our thermometer check noted 26F). Best Buy installed a second identical unit N/C after this freezing incident.
Second unit exhibited the same slow drip behavior. Geek Squad tech told us this should not happen. While the first unit required 5 repair visits in the first month of ownership, the second unit took only 5 days until it, too, froze our refrigerated food (again set to 37F; our thermometer check noted 26F). Best Buy replaced this second refrigerator with one from LG (our choice), never charged us a dime extra, even honored a price match on this one AND almost two weeks later no problems whatsoever!
So while we highly recommend Best Buy (they worked with us through all of these hassles), we cannot recommend GE (caveat emptor!). This appears to be a design defect, so good luck to anyone who owns this model!

I love the stainless steel but upon receiving it, I didnt know the side of it would be black. It only bothered me because the side is exposed with the layout of my kitchen. The fridge works great, ice maker works great, the sensor of the auto fill aspect isn't that great if youre filling a larger bottle. (It'll stop and read as an error after pouring a few ounces) people have complained about the noise but it doesn't seem loud to me and our living room is adjacent to the kitchen. A great buy so far!

Freezer Section Part Broke Before We Moved In!

The freezer section has yet to be filled (as we have not yet moved in), but when opening the freezer drawer the other day it would not shut all of the way. I took the drawer out to discover that there is a set of gears on a roller, and there was a part on the end of this assembly that was broken (plastic). I immediately called the repair number and they are sending someone out this week to fix it. Curious, but the tech asked me if I wanted the part shipped to me or have the repair tech bring it. Between homes, why would I want the responsibility of having the part shipped to me?? Nevertheless, I hope that this refrigerator will perform better over the long run than it did before it got into heavy use!! We love the over refrigerator design and the automatic water filler feature, but only time will tell...

Best answer: Filter is located in upper left side of refigerator.
Open the door to filter compartment and swing the back of the filter out of the compartment.
Pull filter out. Install new filter by pushing it in. Swing back into compartment and close door.
Flush at least 1 to 2 gallons through it before drinking.
