Tried to love it so much but simply could not.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The screen is gorgeous and one of the best ever on a laptop. Performance is good. However, the machine lacks practicality unless it is used as a desktop replacement: - Battery life is poor despite large Wh number. - Machine is not silent - Even if you settle for it as desktop replacement the port selection is weird. - I was not able to use USB-C to charge the machine. Has its own charging brick. Tried to love it so much but simply could not.

9/10 level of Satisfaction
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been enjoying this beautiful, well-built laptop since the first day I have it. The 4k Amoled screen is fabulous, it's easily the best part of this laptop. I love the overall design, it feels solid as well. The speaker quality is loud and clear (remember to update it in the control panel), it's 8/10 in my opinion. I do not have any issue with thermal issues like some ppl mentioned in the review. But the battery life is, indeed, just okay, not horrible at least. And the lack of in-built ports could be annoying sometimes, but at least Gigabyte was considerate enough to give a hub for free, tho they could have designed it better so we can attach it more solidly on the laptop (So I choose to use a USB-c extension to connect them). The only real complaint I have is the biosystem, it seems like I am unable to install the latest version directly. I've tried several times already and all it did was showing the installment screen but never reboots itself, and when I restarted the laptop it still says I need to update it. Eventually, it kinda messed up my control panel thingy (it disable some hotkey settings), so I had to reset to the factory setting. I hope gigabyte will fix this issue someday. Other than that, I have no complaints about this powerful machine. I would definitely recommend this product when it's on sale. You will not regret it! I would give 4.5 star out of 5 if I could.

Gorgeous looks, great feel, little short on ports
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The first pleasant surprise about this 16" laptop is how slim and light-weight it is. Also, the classy silver case doesn't scream, "I'm a gamer!" and still offers a nice contrast to the black keyboard and touchpad. The keyboard is very responsive and the intensity of the white backlight is just right. With its cutting-edge processor and 6E WiFi, it handles productivity task like a champ. Outside of work and web browsing, I have only watched movies and streamed videos on the laptop. The picture quality is amazing. However, make sure to plug in the battery for full brightness and position the laptop to minimize glare. A helpful hint I picked up is to go to Windows 11 sound setting to increase frequency response to 24-bit 192000Hz. After that, the sound is excellent for a laptop. The only disappointment is the lack of ports. It is inconvenient to use the included 4-way adaptor, but perhaps it is the price you pay for a slim design. All things considered, I am very satisfied and highly recommend this laptop.

Excellent laptop spec-wise, but...
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For the price I paid (sub-1400), it's definitely difficult to find a laptop spec'd out like this one. 12th gen Intel Core i7 processor, 105w 8GB Nvidia RTX 3070 Ti graphics, 16GB DDR4 RAM, 1TB Gen4 m.2 NVMe SSD with another slot to upgrade in the future... However, this laptop is geared more for creators (how it's advertised to consumers) than gamers, or rather, it's more of a portable workstation that can handle light gaming. An example of this is the UHD/4K 60Hz screen, as it is great for video playback but not the best at playing games on FHD due to capping out at the refresh rate of the screen. Playing games on UHD/4K would be worse due to the lower FPS on that resolution. I haven't run down the battery from 100% full to empty, but I would estimate that I can get a little over 3 hours with just browsing the Internet on 20% screen brightness with a balanced power plan. This laptop has sub-par battery life per charge/drain cycle, but since it is rated at 99 Wh, I could take this laptop with me on a plane. Overall, this laptop is better suited for everything other than gaming. If you're looking for a dedicated gaming laptop, there are way better options out there. Otherwise, this is one of the best deals for what you can get in a laptop nowadays.

A lot of promise met with disappointment
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I owned this for about a year before I sold it to someone else. I bought this thinking it was a steal. It had a 4K screen, an i7 processor, 16 gigs of ram, a great graphics card and 1TB of space. However as a college student, this was not a good laptop for me. It weighed around 5 pounds, which considering the hardware, is very good, but was tasking on my back and added a lot of weight to my backpack. I wouldn't consider this a gaming laptop however, as the graphics card is more built for video editing. The 4k screen is beautiful when watching movies and for doing general tasks, but for gaming, the screen would tear a lot. Turning down the graphics for it not to tear was a little disappointing. When not on battery saving mode, the battery lasts 2 1/2 hours, so this will have to be plugged in all the time if you want to get serious work done. The charger also weighs a lot since the battery on this is huge. There were times I turned it on and the screen would simply not work at all. The backlight and the keyboard would light up but not the screen. I'd have to wait for hours for it to work, many times having to wait for the battery to die overnight for me to plug it in and have it work again. The customer service from gigabyte was a MESS to find and get help with anything. It took a month for me to get my gigabyte control center app working through their customer support. When I tried to get my screen thing fixed they left me alone to find their repair site through 50 different other sites. I must've signed up for a thousand different sites trying to find which one would allow me to get my computer fixed. So if you want help with this device, good luck. Overall, I feel as if this had a lot of promise, but failed to live up to my expectations when I bought it, even on sale. To sum it up, here's some pros and cons. Pros: -Durable aluminum build -Great 4k screen when not gaming -Great for video editing -Smooth work flow when working -Good keyboard and track pad -Dongle provided Cons: -Fans are loud as they can get when doing tasking work -Customer service is horrible -Heavy -Horrible battery life -Iffy if it'll turn on (probably only mine did that) -Not a gaming laptop as advertised -Good computer, but not for the price, even when on sale -Only 3 usb-c ports I think for a film student or professional this is a solid computer, but if you're looking for a gaming PC, something to use in college to do research and take notes, or both, I'd put my money elsewhere.

Q: QuestionDoes this allow for the laptop to be charged over USB? I'm not asking if it can charge outside items. What is the total RAM allowed? Does it have a mux switch?
Asked by ddoyle.
- A:Answer On the right port closest to the front it will charge with a 100w USB-C charger but slowly. Comes with 16 GB, and you can put in a max of 64 GB. This model, the XE4, is DDR4 only. The XE5 is DDR5 based. No MUX switch.
