A: There’s two m.2 slots
A: 175 watts on the 4090, yes, up to 64gb 2 slots, and yes, space for additional ssd
A: should be anywhere from $3400-$3599 depending on what config it is, Gigabyte up until recently had the Aorus 17X with the i9 13900HX, and the 13950HX. They are now going to be releasing one with the 13980HX, not much difference between them, they are all 24 core/32 thread CPUs with more than enough performance, the only difference is 100 mhz i9-13900HX (max boost 5.4 ghz) i9-13950HX (max boost 5.5 ghz) i9-13980HX (max boost 5.6 ghz) I expect Bestbuy will be getting stocked with the 13980HX models next, grab whatever you can when they are available, the i9 doesn't matter get whatever is available when it's in stock, you can't go wrong with either its' the same CPU You may see all 3 CPU clock speeds offered on Amazon and Newegg soon too, Gigabyte's plan was to roll out each one within a few weeks of eachother to get supply going, then i would imagine months down the road folks will be able to order them with options vs what the stores are stocked with, but that's just me speculating that last piece, the key on their site says *up to i9-139XX* (13950/13980 etc )
Q: When will the AORUS 17X AZF be available with the I9-13980HX?
A: I see it listed on Gigabytes site as being available in this model, however the difference between the 13950 & 13980 would be negligible at best I imagine as the only difference I can see is a 100Mhz bump. Both processors have the same Base Power (55w) and Maximum Turbo Power (157w) according to Intel Ark Specifications. The processor is going to throttle in almost all circumstances where there is a heavy load so I doubt you would ever see any benefit from the extra 100Mhz. I have the 17X AZF with the 13950HX. If I had to do it again, I would probably look at the Asus Strix with the 4080 as it has the same 175w power envelope. The 4090 mobile is a serious cut from the desktop equivalent which is to be expected with its huge power draw in a desktop, but Im not sure the performance difference warrants the $1000 difference in price from a 4080 Laptop with the same 175w spec. If I had to choose again, I may have gone with a 4080 laptop. GCC (Gigabyte Control Center) also leaves a LOT to be desired. I have had many gaming laptops and normally go for the higher end models. GCC is the worst Control Center app I have ever used compared to Alienware, Asus, MSI, ect. Performance is good, Screen is nice, but it is not without its flaws.
A: No one knows yet, but if you go to Gigabyte's website you will see they are now releasing ones with the 13980HX (this was added to their site just two days ago) so that might be what they are preparing to stock at Bestbuy within the next few weeks. My advice is no matter which CPU SKU it is, buy what you can get, there isn't much difference between the 13900, 13950 and 13980HX, keep an eye out and good luck!
