    Synopsis

    Gone In 60 Seconds
In this action thriller, a master car thief has his skills pushed to the limit. Randall "Memphis" Raines (Nicolas Cage) can steal practically any car that crosses his path. While he has done well in his life of crime, he knows that there's a short future in theft, and he wants to get out of the business. But his retirement plans are interrupted when his younger brother Kip (Giovanni Ribisi) gets in trouble with a dangerous crime boss. To get his brother out of harm's way, Randall agrees to a profitable but risky scheme to steal 50 luxury cars in one night, with the help of several other car thieves, including Sara "Sway" Wayland (Angelina Jolie). A rival group of thieves is trying to pull the same stunt at the same time, and detectives Castlebeck (Delroy Lindo) and Drycoff (Timothy Olyphant) are trying to shut down both operations. Also starring Robert Duvall as Otto Halliwell, and Scott Caan as Tumbler, Gone in Sixty Seconds is a remake of the 1974 low-budget action hit of the same name, best remembered for a 40-minute chase scene in which 90 cars were destroyed. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

One Of My Favorite Car Movies Of All Time

This is probably the only movie I've ever owned where from the moment the disc loads you're simply THROWN into the feature! No title screen, not even a setup menu, just BAM- movie! An odd approach that no doubt has something to do with deterring the long load times many Bluray players suffer from! Title screen absence aside, the reason I bought this movie is because I love it! For some strange reason I had always neglected to pick it up on DVD, so when I saw it on Bluray I knew I HAD to scoop it up! Still one of my favorite car movies of all time, Gone In 60 Seconds looks awesome on Bluray. The video enhancement process has definately stepped up the quality of the picture, and while it doesn't look as good as some of the newer movies out there (I'm guessing due to its age), its still leaps and bounds ahead of DVD! The curious lack of any real special features (again, I blame the lack of title screen) make this edition feel a bit rushed and for this I dock a star, but I have to admit- I love this movie and would probably have picked it up again even if I already had the DVD version!

A simple plot, yes, but it's so well played out and the story is fun enough that what would more than likely be a throw away script were it done any other way ends up being a very entertaining movie. The acting talent helps too, as Nicolas Cage is one of the best, but the supporting efforts of Will Patton, Delroy Lindo and Giovanna Ribisi contribute a great deal as well. Christopher Eccelsten is perfect as the villain Raymond Colitri, the facing off between him and Randall Rains (Cage) is great. Of course the cars are amazing, everything from European sports cars to old decked out American hot rods are here and then there's "Eleanore"...oh, Eleanore, the riced up 60s Shelby Mustang GT. Personally I think it's worth it to watch this movie just to see that car.

...you just have to be a fan of Nic Cage to roll with this flick. Is it cheesy? Of course it is. Do the characters resemble cartoon characters more than actual human beings? Of course they do, yet I have to say the flick is entertaining. I know I'm clouded by nostalgia for the film, but Cage has made far FAR worse flicks than this one! Not exactly a glowing recommendation, I know I know...but still a fun little flick that is harmless.

This movie is a great remake of Halicki's original vision from 1974. Halicki wanted to have the longest and best car chase to ever be put to film and this movie sticks with that vision by having a great climactic chase with a Shelby mustang. Lets not forget that Angelina Jolie is extremely hot in this movie as well. The only thing preventing this from getting a 5 star revue is it's lack of special features which have already been released on the two earlier versions of the DVD. Why should Blu-ray be any different?

What is nice about this film is that there is a good build-up of the story and backstory before setting off the high-octane car-stealing, car-chasing adrenaline-rush that will have you rooting for the 'bad guys'. And, man, can they drive!!! The gorgeous cars alone are a reason to watch this show!

This movie is one of my favorites. Nicholas cage plays "memphis", a dude notorious for boosting high-end sports cars. The movie is so intense, as nicholas cage must elude the police as he attempts to do the impossible to save his troubled brothers life. Expect lots of great car chases, hot rides, hot girl (jolie), nitros, smashing glass, fights, and burning rubber. Two thumbs up for this adrenaline shot of a movie!

Remember when a movie was just fun and not measured on whether it was Oscar worthy? This is just a popcorn-fun good time. And Nicholas Cage doing his own driving... the final chase scene has gone down in cult history and worth the watch, if for nothing else. Enjoy!
