    Synopsis

    Good Luck Chuck
A serial dater afflicted with a lifelong curse of loneliness attempts to win the love of a clumsy but beautiful penguin expert in the one romantic comedy that proves true love never comes easy. As a ten-year-old boy, Charlie (Dane Cook), breaks the cardinal rule of spin-the-bottle by refusing to kiss a demented goth girl. Crushed by the disheartening snub and determined to ensure that Charlie never finds true love, the vengeful brooder places a hex on the cowardly rule breaker that follows him well into his adult life. Flash-forward 20 years, and Charlie is a successful dentist who just can't seem to maintain a stable relationship. Sure he's had his fair share of one-night stands, but these days Charlie is just looking to find a nice girl he can settle down with. One day, while attending an ex-girlfriend's wedding, Charlie realizes that every girl he has ever dated has proceeded to find true love with the very next man they've met. When word gets out that Charlie is something of a lucky charm for women looking to tie the knot, every women within a 100-mile radius comes calling for a one-night stand; and while taking a bevy of beauties to bed is fun for the time being, it doesn't take long for Charlie to realize just how empty sex can be without true love. Upon meeting hard-to-get aquatic bird specialist Cam (Jessica Alba), Charlie begins to suspect that he has found the woman of his dreams. Cam is the kind of woman whom Charlie would be happy to grow old with, but what will come of their relationship if Charlie and Cam sleep together? Now, in order to ensure that Cam doesn't end up with the next guy she meets, Charlie will finally attempt to break the curse that has plagued him since childhood. Perhaps with a little help from smooth-talking ladies' man and sympathetic best friend Stu (Dan Fogler), Charlie will finally be able to experience true happiness. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

      Half Decent Romantic Comedy

I'd have to agree with the other reviewer do not buy this film on Blu Ray as the film itself is not worth the money. All Blu Ray really gives you in this film is the chance to be able to see how bad Dane Cooks acne scars are. This movie tries to be funny with Rowan Atkinson like comedy, but with Jessica Alba playing that role. As you can guess it's really not that funny. The only funny parts are when Dane Cook is doing his stand up style of comedy in the film, and just like with all his other starring roles, he rarely gets to bring that into the film. In the end this movie follows the same old romantic comedy plot line, and the parts when Dane Cook is trying to smother Alba, it just isn't funny. If it wasn't for the insane amount of female nudity in this movie and over the top love making scenes the comedy of Alba and Cook is childish. And for those thinking Alba bears anything is this film. Stay away.

Eh, it's ok but not worth the blu-ray

This movie is ok, but is definitely not worth the price of a blu-ray disc. Instead, you'd come out better buying this on a regular DVD. I usually only reserve my blu-ray purchases for movies I generally know are going to be great and warrant the higher cost, but I was mistaken with this choice. It's just your basic comedy slash love story flick with a best friend giving the somewhat moral guy advice as he goes through the motions of trying to bag his one true love.....pretty standard. My wife loved the love story angle in this movie, but it's just not my thing. Would recommend if you just need a regular movie to watch and are into the love story deal, but wouldn't recommend getting it on blu-ray.

Dane Cook gets a ton of hate, at least according to masses on the Internet. Personally, I don't get it. I think the guy is funny. He's about the right mix of cocky and charming, comparable maybe to a Vince Vaughn type. That said, if you don't like Dane Cook, look elsewhere. For fans of his though, the film is very enjoyable. Jessica Alba, while not the world's best actress, is cute in her part and smoking hot as usual. The video looks great in 1080p, and the audio is serviceable as far as comedies go. There are also a good amount of extras if that's what you're looking for. Overall I enjoy the film and felt the presentation on Blu-ray makes it one worth owning.

      Poor Chuck has a problem

4 of 5 stars for the comedy movie Good Luck Chuck. Let me first say that Jessica Alba is about the cutest thing I know of; the whole point of the movie is our lead guy eventually falls in love with her. There is one problem. Chuck, our lead guy, was spelled as a child by a witch such that every girl will fall in love and marry the NEXT guy after Chuck. As this little problem becomes known to people, girls line-up to be with Chuck so they can ensure a quick successful marriage. A cute plot, well acted and lots of funny moments. Well worth watching, very funny and then there is Jessica Alba, sigh...

In large parts the movie would have been boring at best, but Jessica Alba is the reason I watched more than what I had to.If she wasn't in it I probably would have not have made it to the end.I thought the plot of the movie was really not it's strong points. And Dane Cook could not carry this movie at all.Not really funny in his scenes, but when Jessica is with him she's is so funny.Wheater she's breaking into her own house for her spare keys,or getting her dress caught in a car door,or slamming into a pole. She makes the movie enjoyable.

I really see a movie and say that's it's completely horrible. But this is the one. I'm sorry but there is nothing comic in the plot of a guy sleeping with multiple girls for no apparent reason, but to prove some strange, morning hangover, theory. The inability of Cook and Alba to act doesn't help the movie. Cook should stick to the stand up, and Alba... well she shouldn't act. Period. The movie tried to be funny with bed scenes, but it looked more pathetic, like somebody tried to make an adult movie and horribly failed. Don't waste your time...

This has to be the best Dane Cook movie I have seen. Usually his movies wane a little after the first 20 minutes but, not this one. This movie stays the the full course and makes you laugh till it hurts! I'm glad I missed this one on the big screen. I can't pause the big screen to regain my composure. If you want to suffer from laugh pains, then this one will put you in traction.

I thought this movie would at least be a little bit funny, but it wasn't. I got this when someone gave me a movie for Christmas that I already had. I would take it back if they'd let me, but I've already opened it and watched it. I doubt I will ever watch it again. This movie was gross and not even the least bit funny. If this site would have allowed it, I wouldn't have given this movie any stars at all.... It doesn't even deserve 1.
