A: Even though the box says 5th and 6th gen, this does fit the 7th gen. All three gens are the same size. I just got one for the 7th gen iPod I purchased, and it fits like a glove.
Q: Would you recommend a Griffin Survivor or Lifeproof case for ipod 5th gen?
A: I have no experience with the Lifeproof case, but I will say that the Griffin, while a great case, does not come with a screen protector so keep that in mind.

A: There is not a screen protector

A: No
A: It's most likely the desiccant the manufacturer puts in the box to discourage moisture.....you'll be fine.
