So we were out yesterday and we found a local store that was open late and they were selling GHWT on the day of release and we thought we could pick it up, so we did and then when we got home we started thinking wether to open the box or not?!
First this is maybe our 4th or 5th rythem/music game. we have GH3 RB1, and some other karoke games. Our greatest concern was that we dont need anymore instruments than we already have (3 plastic guitars, 5 mics and 1 wired drum set)
RB2 or GH-WT? it really depends how much your willing to spend because you can always get both!! but I think if you already have RB1 just pick up the RB2 standalone game the instruments though much improved dont warrent the investment from my point of view. GH-WT instruments on the other hand especially the drum kit have something relatively new to offer.
So the big question for us was do we open it or not? should we get RB2 instead? we decided to go ahead and open the box!! and we are glad we did, very positive experience so far.
The actual hands- on review broken down to diffirent sections:
1. standalone game: GH-WT is a great addition to the GH series with a lot of really great tracks, graphics are cleaner but cartonish as usual( which has some kind of special appeal to it). There is also the compostion mode which allows you to creat your own playble tracks, I looked into briefly and I would say it has a lot of potentialin it. There is also the added bonus of publishing your tracks online which may help uleash your inner composer.
I still havn't tried online play so maybe I'll update this section later.
Overall the game alone is really worth getting but the important part is wether to get the band kit or not?
2. Instruments:
A. The Guitar has a nice feel to it, it has been redesigned with removable face plates which can make it really customizable. they also added a slide bar which could be helpful for nailing some of the difficult solos.
B. Drum set: You get a wireless drum set that feels and looks really well made, its heavier than RB1 set(which makes it feel even more solid) but not too heavy though, and it Looks better than the new RB2 drum set. The presence of cymbals also adds a nice touch of authenticty and enhanced game play. I tried it with RB1 and until now its not compatible with it( treated like a regular controler not as a drum set)
c. Microphone: its your standerd wired rythem game mic nothing fancy here.
RB Vs GH instruments compatibility:
I only tried the GH kit on RB and doenst work, ill be cross testing soon and updating this review.
So overall its highly recommended if your into rythem games and if your not then maybe its time to get started! its really great for when you have friends or relatives over or maybe a family activety with your kids.
what are you waiting for? add to cart :)

Fun Game for a group; Nice addition to GH Series

GH:WT is a good and entertaining addition to the GH series.
Pros
- Compatable with RB2 Guitar controller
- Can play solo band career or whole band.
- Entire band contributes to star power and is shared
- Character customization improved from GH3
Cons
- Drums between GH and RB are not interchangeable
- Must play every song per gig / RB2 you play each song one at a time
- Load time before song set
GH:WT is a great for those out there who have/play nothing but GH but want the ability to play at home w/friends and family like you can w/RB.
Not too much of a difference from RB to GH:WT. GH is a bit more challenging I think.
Between the two I don't think either one is better than the other. GH:WT and RB are two great games that are fun to play with friends and family. Now, if you are looking for the most skill challenging then I would say GH is the way to go.
GH:WT or RB2 I don't think you'd be disappointed with either one. If the drums were interchangeable I would recommend buying both games! If you have one wait until the other goes on sale in a few months before buying it.

Guitar Hero joins the "Band" wagon.

Guitar Hero World Tour is known as Guitar Hero's "reply" to the popular Rock Bandgame sereis, alowing you not only to play guitar, but also bass, drums, and vocals. Guitar Hero World Tour, i'll admit, has a much better soundtrack than Rock Band, however, Rock Band has way better graphics than World Tour. In career or band mode, you have to choose from different gigs, that take place in different settings, such as the AT&T Park, The House Of Blues, or Ozzfest. Now in these gigs, you have to play every single song without stopping to save it. Im fine with this because at a real rock concert, the band just can't stop and choose what song to play, they have to keep the show going, which is why I think it makes the game a bit more realistic than Rock Band. Overall, Guitar Hero World Tour has a great soundtrack, but still can't come up to par with Rock Bands graphics. 4/5.

I played last night for about 3 hours, I only wanted to put it on and try one song but this game is addicting. the song choice dwarf that of GH 3 and for the most part are far more current. I thought I read some where that this game could use the downloaded song content from GH3 but so far no and I know I read that some where. The graphics are very cool and you get to travel the world. The cartoon dipictions of the story are just as funny as GH3 and yes the story continues. Overall a very good game I think its awsome, I might go and get me an extra guitar to have when my nephew comes cause I am not going to want to take turns.

Pros:
-New type of notes (you now have to hold a note while playing other notes and occasionally strumming to play the note you are holding to keep it playing-even neater if you can use the whammy bar while you do it).
-Graphic detail and background better than Rock Band series.
-New type of drum set
-I lied, actually the songs by Tool are pretty hard on expert but repetitive so easier to learn how to play. I actually got frustrated when I died near the end after playing the song for 234234234 minutes.
Cons:
-Prior GH series feel more difficult
-Activating star power seems harder (there's a button that makes it easier but I'm talking about lifting the guitar up)
-Some of the songs are pretty bad.
Overall, I think GH always beats Rock Band.

The song list is much smaller than that of Rock band.
The drums are better if they work, but I'd take RB's drums over Guitar Hero's malfunctioning drums any day.
The bass pedal sucks.
The guitar is better.
Vocals on GH aren't nearly as well set up as RB.
I've played both games, and Rock Band is a better choice.

Way Better than Rockband 2

Short and sweet... Guitar Hero is way funner than Rockband. It's really fun for family nights, to get the whole family involved.. they have new beginner level which lets it easy for young or new players catch on fast. Music list is great, but could be better... Rockband makes it real hard to hit the notes because it puts strain on being right on the note... Guitar Hero gives you a lil more room to mess up... and create a rocker/ gh studio are really really cool.. get online and download new songs, keeps this fun game in for awhile

Guitar Hero World Tour is the best Guitar Hero game since Legends of Rock. The graphics are amazing, it has the greatest and latest songs, and it is fun to play with others. I bought mine with only a guitar because I know that everyone in my household does not want to play a video game and have better things to do. I recommend this game for singles, couples, families and a hardcore gamer!
