My nephew is a huge gamer, so I thought he'd like this movie. I didn't realize it was horribly done CGI until after we started watching it. With all the millions they've made off the game, you'd think they'd put that much energy into the game. Instead it looks like something made on regular persons computer using a common app or program. I've seen better quality CGI videos made by people on youtube. We watched the entire video just for the story line and because my nephew grew up playing Halo with his dad before he passed away. My nephew is a typical freshman in high school that thinks he's a comedian, and he's been acting out the glitchy CGI since we saw it. It's hilarious and better than the movie. The movie would be great for younger gamers and kids that like action cartoons, but older kids and adults will be turned off by the poor CGI. I seriously have flash backs to gaming in the 90's and early 2000's where you're stuck running into a wall, or a player being killed and the arms are in front moving like you're still walking. It's really that bad, but it's a great back story for Halo.

Let me start off by saying I purchased the LCE of Halo 5: Guardians and received this digitally, I also purchased this version as it was on sale and I'm a collector. I have always loved the books as well as the games, this animation follows Halo:Fall of Reach (The Book) perfectly(That book being one of my favorites) The story is exceptional and shows the origin of the Spartan II program including characters such as Kelly, Fred, Linda, Sam, as well as John( The Master Chief) This animation is a great alternative for those who don't have the time/patience to read the book as it shows how the Spartans trained and bonded together. Now, the bad part- The animation is horrible ( Halo Legends had better animation IMO) To sum this review up, I would recommend this to a friend for the story though the animation could have been better, I believe the story more than makes up for it.

This is a great little movie to go along with the Eric Nylund book. It pretty much gives the story of the original Spartan II's and does a great job of covering characters in the book. The animation is done in 343's terminal videos style from Halo 4, but a little more fluid. It's like watching digital art come to life. Highly recommend to the Halo enthusiast or someone who just wants to see the Master Chief's beginnings.

I'm a huge HALO fan and purchased this movie for under $5 (on sale). I had heard the movie was uninspiring and rushed. But how can you go wrong payin less than $5 right? Well, aparantly you can go very wrong. Not sure what the filmmakers where trying to do but the end product is awful. Bad even for a huge Halo fan to swallow. My $5 would have been better spent had they fell out of my pocket.

This movie explains how 117 became to the rank of Master Chief, I believe this is a necessary if you must know the Halo story it also shows the other Spartans Besides 117 , what I do not like about this movie was that was too short and bad CGI that's it , ... buy the Blu ray version not the DVD Blu rays playback and when scratched DVDs don't

This direct-to-DVD/BluRay movie is strictly for the hardest of hardcore HALO fans. It has very high production values, excellent animation & voice acting. There are a lot of inside type of references that, if you're not familar with the games, comics or novels, you might get a bit lost - unlike any of the previous HALO programs.

This movie may not be that interesting to someone who is not a Halo fan but it is an absolute must see for everyone who is. It chronicles how John 117 became The Master Chief. From childhood all the way to the events leading up to Halo 5. The animation is beautiful. The story and voice acting are on par for animated films.

If you read the book, it follows it fairly closely. The movie was good but not great. I have a strong interest in the Halo franchise, since Halo on the original Xbox (with the huge controller). It definitely worth watching, but with a little extra effort, could have been great! Nonetheless, you'll be entertained.
