I got this for my house this past weekend after our other DVD bookcase got full (my husband and I must have over 400 DVDs in our collection). The appearance of this cabinet is extremely classy--it looks very well made and doesn't look like a cheap dorm room addition. It took my husband approximately 10 minutes to put together, maybe 20 including unpacking and cleanup. The glass doors are a huge bonus (and a necessity for us since we have a few pets) and are probably the reason that the rack is a little pricey. I attached a picture so you can see it in my house--it looks great, matches our our other furniture, and holds a decent amount of DVDs. It's hard to say how many DVDs this rack holds because we have a lot of TV show DVDs in there which take up more room than a normal DVD. We can fit 4 rows of DVDs in there comfortably. I guess my only cons are I wish it was a little bit cheaper and I wish it held a few more DVDs, but those are things we're willing to overlook in my house. I definitely recommend this product.

Nice DVD Storage

Just got this home and husband put it together rather quickly. I did purchase this AFTER reading the other reviews and based on what I read thought it was worth the gamble. As mentioned in some prior posts I am noting the following as well:
*It looks great and fits perfectly where we wanted to place it. I like that is has a top, solid shelf on which a small plant or a couple of small candles can sit on.
*It's quite sturdy and durable.
*If we wanted the full maximum potential of storage, we could not use all 5 shelves provided (and yes we measured but it doesn't come out right). We used 4 shelves which gives us three storage areas were we can store the DVD's vertically and two storage areas where we can store the DVD's horizontally (or, CD's could be stored there as well-but, we have our CD's in carrying cases).
*The right door does not close all the way at the bottom (the bottom right). There is about a 1/2-3/4" gap. It is noticeable, but not too distracting and not enough so that I don't like it.
*I can see where the glass would be hard to clean on the inside because the doors slide. But, my husband seems to be able to get the doors out of the track fairly easily as he did that a few times trying to figure out the gap. This is what I would consider just a minor inconvenience.
*Yes, the silver track at the bottom on which the doors slide is visible, but again, not distracting.
I would most definitely recommend this piece unless the person was a true perfectionist--the door issue might be too much for such a person. Otherwise, it's durable, attractive and has ample DVD storage space. The worst that could happen is return it if it doesn't meet your expectations.

Smaller than it looks, very sturdy

Although it ships with 5 shelves, you'll never use more than 4 giving you a total of 5 places for storage (bottom counts for 1 shelf). Here's an idea of what you can fit...
1 CD height Shelf
1 Ninento DS shelf (also fits CD's)
1 Blu-Ray Shelf
2 DVD Shelves
Considering how inexpensive this unit is, it feels very sturdy and doesn't feel like it will topple over. One of the doors won't stay shut, it rolls about 1/2 inch open on it's own.
Considering the poor quality out there, this one is ok.

Incorrect disc count, but still nice unit

This is a very nice looking unit that is sturdy and easy to assemble. It took me about 30 minutes from opening the box to loading it with DVDs! It is still particle board, but it's hefty and when assembled, there is no wobble or give. My only real complaint is with the alleged DVD count. Best Buy has the DVD count at 136 discs, but the Init website and the unit's outer packaging claims 282 DVDs. Neither one of these counts is correct. Using this unit for DVDs only, I was able to install four of the six included shelves. Each shelf holds approximately 45 discs (depending on casings and "double disc" sets, etc.) for a total of around 180 DVD's, stacked vertically (upright). Perhaps, Init's count is based on stacking the disc horizontally (flat, one on top of another), but I haven't attempted this. The glass doors are hard to clean without removing them (which is difficult once they are installed because of the tight springs in the mechanism, but can be done) and the silver track rails for the sliding doors are visibly distracting (they are bright shiny silver and run the entire length of the unit). It would have looked better if the tracks were black, dark brown, or at least matched the hardware on the doors. Over all, though, I really do like this unit.

Nice Cabinet

This cabinet was very easy to assemble. It is very stable and low profile.
The person that said you can only use 3 shelves is correct. The product comes with 5 shelves and when you use it for DVD storage you can only use 3 of the supplied shelves giving you a total of 4 levels of storage. The package states that it holds 282 DVD's, but it only holds 188 (4 levels of 47 equals 188). If you were able to utilize all 5 shelves for a total of 6 levels you would be able to store 282 DVD's. I believe this is where the manufacturer made its error. 6 levels of 47 does equal 282. however, It is impossible to use all 5 shelves for DVD's. The bottom line is that the cabinet holds 188 DVD's and is a good quality unit.

Overall, a nice storage cabinet

This is a very nice storage cabinet that was easy to assemble. I think it's a bit overpriced, but it was the best available that worked in our home and complemented our furniture.
Beware that even though the Best Buy web site may show it available in store, that may very well not be the case. I ran around to two Best Buy's that claimed on the website to have it in stock in the store. At about thirty minutes of searching by the staff at each store turned up nothing - nobody could locate it. Much time wasted, so I decided to order on line - shipping was $2.97 (go figure)! Had I known THAT I certainly wouldn't have WASTED MY TIME running around town. So one star for the Best Buy web site, four stars for the storage cabinet!

The black color isn't exacly dark black but it still has a very eligant look. It has 5 adjustible shelfs but if u decide to use them all the space btw them is very small. I had to use 4 shelfs in order to fit regular dvds and blu-rays. But i am very happy with it, it's stood the test of time. It also takes very little space which is good.
