I got it to replace the remote my insignia TV came with. Programmed the TV to it first, everything worked great. Programmed a receiver and then it stopped allowing me to use certain buttons on the TV side like numbers, etc. tried pulling batteries and pressing all the buttons and everything the internet said to reset the remote and nothing worked. Just exchanged it for another one and only programmed it for my tv. It doesn't let you switch devices your controlling manually. The top device buttons are for power only. It tries to be smart and automatically guess which device you're trying to control and that makes it more of a pain to use. Other than that, it looks and feels good in your hands.

      Worthless 'universal' remote

I have a TV and Receiver that need powering on/off and volume control for my receiver - everything else is via wireless keyboard to my HTPC. This remote failed completely at this task. The left power button (for TV) worked for my TV. Tried to find the code for my Yamaha receiver? Not listed in the instructions. Found them online np. Tried to program the codes (all of them) and none worked for the right power button. What's worse is I found the volume would only send to the TV (the TV button lights up when they're pressed). I was thinking I could solve this by programming the right power button to control the TV. Well guess what? They made the remote prevent that. Stupid stupid stupid. Do not waste your money with this remote.

Hello! Thanks a lot for writing your response. This remote control is clearly advertised and designed to only control your television and cable or satellite box. This is the reason why your receiver was not controlled; we recommend using a receiver - enabled universal remote control such as this one we manufacture: https://www.insigniaproducts.com/pdp/NS-RMT415/4502603. Originally bought this to replace the one my mom had at her nursing home, not realizing that she required a special one provided thru the nursing home. But I liked it and wanted to use it myself as a second remote for my TV. However I do not have cable (use antenna for over the air stations) and could not get this remote to do anything but turn TV on/off and control volume. It requires a cable or satellite box to do anything else. Had to return it.

Unfortunately, while this is a two device universal remote, it will only work with a TV and either a cable or satellite box. It likely won't work for most DVD, BD, or modern set-top box (Roku, etc) that you may want. It certainly won't work for my RCA Blu-ray player, which was what I bought it for. Pretty useless, if you ask me. I guess I should have read the description closer, before I bought it.

I have a Dynex brand LCD tv that no longer has the original remote control. I purchased this Insignia remote control open-box and followed the instruction booklet on pairing the remote to my Dynex tv. The first try did not work, but I tried again using the other pairing methods suggested in the instruction booklet and it works! All the buttons work and I am able to get full function out of that TV again.

Multiplicity of instructions (depending upon number of devices), clear enough; however, instructions for programming just one device (TV) continued to refer to the second power button for set top box which was in this case NA. Said button for set top box never "lit" so programming couldn't/wouldn't work...Bottom line, thing is now in a drawer until we can interface with some CS folks I suppose...Or return it.

I just needed a simple 2 device remote. It worked with my Apex TV, (the store said they didn't have a universal remote for Apex). I bought an Insignia TV and no surprise the remote works great with it. Easy setup, only downside is it's a 2 device remote, but that's all I needed. Only real complaint is I prefer the numbers be in the palm, not at the top of the remote.

Limited remote. I contacted Insignia to get help and they literally don't support the product they sell and "produce." Can't find this model number on their website. Customer Support has 3 times sent me documents with the wrong model number. Bought a dud. Taking it back to BestBuy. Didn't even want this one. Was recommended by Best Buy employee. Whoops!
