    Interview With the Vampire
Anne Rice's best-selling romantic horror tale about the origins of a centuries-old vampire inspired this popular, atmospheric chiller. One of director Neil Jordan's major Hollywood productions, the film stays close to its source material, retaining the frame of a young reporter (Christian Slater) interviewing a man who claims to be a 200-year-old vampire. The man, Louis (Brad Pitt), shares his story, beginning in 18th-century New Orleans with his first encounters with the charismatic and decadent vampire Lestat (Tom Cruise). Lestat converts Louis to blood-sucking and immortality, but Louis fails to adopt Lestat's cavalier attitude, instead tormenting himself with guilt over his new nature. The two vampires remain deeply, if reluctantly, connected over the years, while becoming intimately involved with others of their kind, including Claudia (Kirsten Dunst), a mature immortal in a young child's body. Fans of the novel raised numerous objections, particularly after Rice initially spoke out against the casting of Cruise as Lestat; further casting difficulties followed the death of River Phoenix, whose role as the interviewer was assumed by Christian Slater. Rice later recanted her objections, and the combination of thrills and gothic romance proved popular with audiences. ~ Judd Blaise, Rovi

One of the best movies !PERIOD!

Anne Rice is a genius ! Her creativeness shines thru in this adaption from her book. Tom Cruise really did a great job with his role as Lestat DeLioncourt. At times he was gentle and caring and others he was the deffinition of the term "The Bad Guy" . Brad Pitt also did a good job playin the role of the tormented Louis. It is kinda strange to see Kirstin Dunst as child in this film and then see her grown up in the Spiderman series. If you live under a rock and have never seen this movie , I suggest you get a move on.

      Great movie

My girlfriend urged me to buy this movie (Before yesterday I had never seen it) and looking at the cast I thought how could I go wrong. I was overly shocked as too how interesting Brad Pitt's story about his life after being born into darkness was. I could have watched a whole series based on his life as a vampire. My girlfriend who is obsessed with vampire novels pointed out very few mistakes/changes in this movie compared to twilight and I have to take her word on saying that this is the most accurate movie to novel she has ever seen.

The story which began it all, Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles. Incredible performances, remarkable cinematography, and great bonus features! The newest bonus feature added for the special edition is a welcome addition. I found the previous cover art more appealing, but with such a masterpiece, that is certainly not something to complain about!

I love vampire movies so you know I was going to love this movie. Brad Pitt stars in this movie; he makes vampires look really handsome. (lol) This was a great thriller; it was an interesting movie. A mortal interviews a vampire who talks about his life story; how cool is that. Imagine if there was a real life vampire in this world and you were interviewing him/her; how cool would that be? If you love vampire movies as much as I do and you love Brad Pitt you should definitely buy and watch this movie.

      Timeless Classic

Anne Rice is a master when it comes to novels. I have read almost all of her novels in the Vampire Chronicles. Although all the actors were too old for their characters, they did an astounding job. Brad Pitt did a great job of playing the confused and tender Louis de Pointe du Lac. If you are like me and hated the film Queen of the Damned, then "Interview" will reclaim Anne Rice's genius. I hope that any other Anne Rice adaptation will be this good if not better.

Don't let the cheesy 90's trailer fool you. This is one of the best vampire movies you will ever see. Excellent acting, Great story and they keep to classic vampires. If you were to imagine everything you would want to see in a vampire movie, I would be willing to bet that Interview with the Vampire would exceed all your expectations. If you want a sexy love story with sparkles, you're in the wrong place.

      Like the movie but..

Had this on dvd and decided to upgrade it to my new blu-ray player since I like the dvd so much but the blu-ray version for me just looked like it was the dvd version recorded onto a blu-ray disc. If you like this movie and are expecting to see a huge improvement from the dvd version to the blu-ray you might just want to stick with your dvd, no improvement at all as far as I can see.

This could have easily turned into a very laughable attempt at a vampire movie, but instead holds its place in my collection as a classic. Don't mind the cover, as it's a bit misleading. This movie has a wide target audience, and if you let it, it will instill a sense of deviously dark intrigue like nothing else.
