Mature Take on Childhood Tale
|Posted .This movie had some unexpected surprises. It had a more adult-like feel to it, although it would appeal to teens as well. I'm not sure I would show it to pre-teens; the giants and their behavior may frighten some. The special effects crew really brought this one together in a credible fashion, and the plot, while it deed veer here and there from the original story, kept on tack with the overarching tale. The acting was generally good, although Jack's acting sensibility seemed a little out of place for a Middle Ages setting. Not to spoil it for anyone, but if I had a disappointment at all, it was at the very end when we're not told what becomes of the giants after they're "tamed" again. Is a sequel in store to answer that question?

4 Stars
|Posted .A bit slow in the beginning and the characters were not developed in a way that I cared a lot for them when they were being chased around by giants. The fantasy of the movie had the current feel of things made after 2000, medieval people are dirty and carts and roads are worn, that part they got done well. The graphics at times are more obvious than I'd expect at the feature film level but it isn't a deal breaker. Defiantly a good movie though not great, probably should have rented it instead of buying but not sad I did.

Great family movie
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendMy son talked me into getting this movie. At first I was a skeptic but it's actually a really good, fun movie. I was surprised that I enjoyed the movie so much. Because of the title I thought I knew the movie like the back of my hand but it has twist and turns that made the movie better.

Not that great...
|Posted .No, I would not recommend this to a friendBuying this movie on sale, I didn't know what to expect, so didn't really come into it hoping for amazing experience or a total disaster. What we get though, is something in between. Movie isn't so bad it's unwatchable, but it's hard to recommend either. Once you get started you will definitely finish as some of the ideas are cool, and for the most part this is the same story we all know and love, just acting isn't the best out there. I wouldn't recommend this movie overall, unless you already have it or watch it for free. It's not a total waste of time, but definitely not something you will tell your friends about either..
