    Love them

I love this new headset, the only problem I noticed is that they don’t do good with their mic’s in noisy environments but I quiet environments they do rock and with their sound and music they’re awesome, overall I love them.

wow level of audio experience with some downsides

Initial Note: - This is a review based on not being audiophile expert nor technical knowledge and having tried multiple earbuds of premium brands; - Review is based on use experience with iPhone 15pro Max and MacBook Pro 2020. After several hours of wearing and testing the EPIC Lab Edition earbud from JLAB, it offers excellent sound quality close to a crafted and premium level earbud but accessible price range. Although it might not be exactly same, the immersive experience feels mostly equally high end mobile audio experience. It support (extract from the product specifications) - Hi-Res Audio, type of compression for Android (LDAC) and iOS (AAC); - Made with Hybrid Dual Drivers (dynamic and Knowles balanced armature driver); - Bluetooth LE - Dual Charging via wireless or usb-c - 56+ hours of playtime The package includes: - Earbud - Charging case with wireless charging option - USB-C to C charging cable - Bluetooth LE Audio Dongle - 6 Tips” S/M/L silicon and cloud foam. PAIRING WITH MOBILE PHONE The pairing with mobile phone is within the normal experience as would be any other brand of earbud. Once connected and downloaded Jlab App, it automatically update as gets synchronized. And the entire audio experience is only controlled via JLab App. PAIRING WITH LAPTOP It require the dongle plugged to the laptop, and automatically connect with the earbud. The process can take couple of sec to a min or so if work. In my case I had to try twice. THE APP The app has options to : -Noice Control Modes -Equalizer -Touch Controls -Music Mode/Movie Mode -Safe Hearing -Auto Play/Pause Sensors -Update Firmware. - Icon that provide level of battery for Left and Right The application options are available only when the earbud is connected to the phone. AUDIO EXPERIENCE: It is quite remarkable for the size that is the earbud, with songs and video pull in the listening moment to part of the sound. Used for: - Listening while working or taking a moment of break, played streaming music; - Listening while running 1hours + continuously, part of experiment played Electric and mixed music for sport activities. - Played sound testing video and part of movies. In each of the case, it is immersive and as if being in the middle of the sound. As side note, for this to notice, it start at certain level of volume that for instance can feel the bass, then right to left and vice versa direction of the beat or the sound effect in case of movie, For movie, example, watching Maverick, can feel the jet flying sound from all directions and moving across. Although it is at the same level of full size headphone, but reasonably good enough. Another instance among the song, the mixed version of Bad Guy, while listening can feel in the middle of energetic sound or part of the session. On the noise cancelling note, it is good as the sound. As soon as place in the ear, it feels as if sealing effect. Such effect that can be experienced in the full size headphone of premium brand. The noise cancelling has three options, on/off and awareness mode. This last one is almost like expanding the surrounding sound, And the use of equalizer allow to control the level of bass and not out of normal would say. By default it comes four modes, JLab signature, Knowles Signature, Bass Boost, and Custom. Touch Control: In total 6 possible setting, 3 each side. Can be setup all or just one. It setup by One Tap, Two Tap, and Three Tap for each. What does well: 1. Sound Experience - sort of Wow level 2. Noise Cancelling 3. Fit in the ear. It is very stable and doesn’t shake or move at all despite of running and sweat. 4. Considerably Fatigue-less. Often with another brand I had this fatigue feeling in first 10 to 15 minutes of wearing it, But I didn’t experience it with JLAB TW EPIC Edition. Wish it does better: 1. Touch Control. It works well for first tap Left/Right. Two taps some times works, some time doesn’t, three taps few times worked only. 2. Multipoint Connection. I was not able to connect to two mobile phones. Connection to laptop or any other device like Apple TV or Android TV can’t be used, at least I couldn’t make it work. With notebook can’t connect with Bluetooth directly and having to use the Dongle. 3. Mic. If making call while there is wind, the earbud doesn’t isolate it making almost hard to maintain conversations during the phone call. 4. Connectivity Reliability. If connected with notebook and phone, during the test experienced that the phone doesn’t remain connected and sporadically disconnect and connect by itself. And using with Notebook for ZOOM meeting, also experienced dropping connection then connecting again, The JLab TW EPIC Edition is a nicely put together hardware and deliver almost as if those high end and priced audio earbud or full size headphone. However, the user experience and reliability on connectivity and unable to fully take advantage of multipoint connection and shortcoming in microphone makes weight in the rating. But still recommendable for simple usage as it deliver quite impressive listening experience for the price category.

These Sound So So So Good

The JLab EPIC LAB EDITION truly wireless earbuds are incredible. They provide excellent sound quality, active noise cancellation (ANC), and a comfortable fit for just about anyone. Let’s get into the review though, because I’m pretty excited about these. Sound Quality The sound quality of the JLab EPIC LAB EDITION earbuds is excellent. I own a lot of in-ear and over-the-ear headphones, but the hybrid dual-driver that JLAB has implemented in these headphones has some sort of voodoo in it. The earbuds deliver clear and detailed sound with powerful bass. I was impressed with the way the earbuds handled different genres of music, from hip-hop to rock to classical. Every song sounded fuller than they did with my other earbuds. I kid you not, I can’t praise the sound quality of these earbuds enough. Spatial audio is supported as well. That means while you won’t get positional audio on iOS devices, you will have support for Dolby Atmos and other 3D sound options. This is great when watching movies on services that support those spatial audio options. Active Noise Cancellation The ANC on the JLab EPIC LAB EDITION earbuds is very effective. The earbuds already do a great job of blocking out background noise, making them ideal for use in loud environments, but turning on the ANC envelopes you in even more noise cancellation goodness with no audible hiss or distortion. Comfort/Build Quality/Usability The JLab EPIC LAB EDITION earbuds were incredibly comfortable to wear. I have what I’d consider to be pretty normal ears and I had no issues with the medium-sized silicon tips. They sealed out sound well enough and stayed in very well. I also tried the medium-sized foam tips, but in this case, preferred the silicone. The earbuds come with a variety of tips in different sizes. The earbuds themselves are more substantial than others in this price range. They are heavier, as is the case they come in, but feel sturdy and don’t ever feel uncomfortable while being worn. The case has a metallic finish and everything is IPS5 rated for dust and water resistance. Tapping the earbuds will do things like skip, pause, turn ANC on/off, etc. These are all programmable in the JLAB app and so far they’ve worked okay. I don’t find the touches as responsive as other earbuds, but it’s not a deal breaker. Connectivity/Charging/Battery Life Bluetooth is the main means of connectivity for these earbuds, but you also get a USB-C dongle if you’d like to use these on a supported device, like a PC or laptop. This is great because normally when doing voice communications you get downgraded to an SBC codec which is not the greatest. This allows you, if your device supports it, to use the LBC codec which improves the audio quality drastically. There’s multi-point connectivity as well, so you can have 2 devices connected at the same time. This is a must-have feature for me and one that is sometimes missed in certain products. You can charge via Qi or USB-C. Charging will allow you up to 36 hours of ANC playtime using the charging case. That’s about 9 hours per charge, which is incredible considering other top-of-the-line earbuds tout only 4-5 hours with ANC on. The JLAB App This is the one weak point of the review. The JLAB app on iOS is barebones. There isn’t much to it, but once I was connected it did update the firmware of the earbuds just fine. There are options to adjust your equalizer settings, ANC, and program what touch does what on the earbuds. While the app isn’t fancy, it does the job, so it’s not that big of a deal. Overall The JLab EPIC LAB EDITION is an incredible entry into the high-end earbud market from JLAB. While the company isn’t notable for anything high-end, these may just change that for them. The only weak point is the JLAB app that needs more work, at least in iOS, but I can’t knock a whole star off for just that as it does what it’s supposed to do.
