The game starts just after Kingdom Hearts 2 and after Coded so before playing it be sure to have played KH1 and KH2 (and even the inbetween stories if you can like Birth by Sleep, Days, CoM, and Coded).
Story: Enticing and keeps you hooked in most of the worlds you encounter. You now have Dream Eaters as partners to help instead of the usual Donald, Goofy, or special NPC guest from the worlds you visit. You also use the 'drop' system to switch between the 2 main characters - Sora and Riku.
Gameplay: Combat is well polished and makes good use of the Dream Eater. Playing on the harder difficulty can be hard, but well worth it if you want to obtain more trophies to your collection. There is also a Dream Eater battle arena. You're pitted against other DE and try to open the best cup place. The system works on a 3v3 scale and uses a card system like a previous system in KH:Chains of Memories. You chain cards against each other and the one with the highest digit will do damage generally. If both parties do equal amount of damage you enter a slot battle in where you try to line up 3 of the same cards before your opponent does.
Re-playability: There are many trophies to obtain in the game and a harder difficulty to unlock once you beat the game. If you happen to do all that you may step into the Dream Eater battle and play against other people!
Other notes: Many other thoughts can be added to my review, but if you know what the Kingdom Hearts series is about and enjoy previous games, then this is worth it for you.

One of the best games I have for the 3DS. Story is awesome, so far, and the controls are set up really well. The combat system is well balanced and there are plenty of moves at your disposal. The 'Dream Drop' concept is solid and flows with game play and story line. The only difficulty I had enjoying the game was getting the hang of your pets or the dream eaters. It's also a little tedious to care for them, but it's not horrible.

Great story and graphics. I haven't really had a chance to play through it yet, but am enjoying it so far. Would not recommend for smaller children. One of the better 3ds titles I have played.

Having been a fan of Kingdom Hearts since its first, PS2 installment, I have to say that this game is the best KH game so far on a handheld device in terms of graphic quality and storyline. I really love how in this time around, we get to see the story unfold in two perspectives--both Sora's and Riku's. This game focuses on friendship, or more specifically, Sora and Riku's bond, the bond being paralleled with all, if not most of those that exist between the Disney characters the two encounter.
The game is moderately challenging, for if you "drop" during a boss battle, you will have to restart the boss battle from the beginning when you "drop" back. "Dropping" is a new feature introduced in this game, where you are given a certain amount of time before the game makes you switch from Sora to Riku. There are certain items, however, that grant you more time between drops.
This game is certainly very excellent and will most likely NOT disappoint you! Its controls make me feel as if I'm not playing on a handheld, but on a console (PS2-esque).

Got this for my wife because she loves all the Kingdom Hearts games from other platforms. She loves it. Although she does have to fight my daughter for time on the 3DS. Good game if you liked the previous games in the series.

This is another Kingdom Hearts game that once again adds story to the main story line and links up other Kingdom Hearts games. Play this game in preparation for the next Kingdom Hearts game that will be released.
