KitchenAid - 2.0 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Microwave - Stainless steel

This microwave works well and has many features, but some of the features are annoying as you have to press multiple buttons to utilize them. For instance, my last Kitchenaid microwave had a touch screen that allowed easy access to features such as melting butter. This model lacks a touch screen and therefore I have to navigate by pressing the number buttons, which is overall not a significant problem, but can become tedious. A more annoying feature of this model is that it continues to beep after the cook timer or kitchen timer has ended. It does not turn off by simply opening the door and therefore you have to press the "off/cancel" button each time. The microwave does have a nice stainless steel finish. I installed it in the spot of my previous kitchenaid microwave and instillation was fairly easy, but does require two people to lift the microwave. Also, I have to drill and additional hole in the cabinet above because the location of the holes for the mounting screws was different from my previous microwave.

This oven was to replace a dead microwave oven. This is the same make and a newer model of the same size oven (physical and power). The older oven lasted 6 years requiring the touch screen assembly to be replaced once. Rather than have to old oven serviced, it was decided to replace it. The consideration was to keep all the built-ins in the kitchen the same manufacture. Installed the oven myself. With the help of a second person, the installation is actually rather simple. Of course the manufacture had changed all the mounting holes and the the bracket, so everything had to be changed out, but from all the old stuff and with the new instructions, it was easy to see how to do it. Also I did a better job of sealing the fan ducting to the oven than the professional installer did for the first oven (this is an over the stove oven with stove hood fan).

I purchased this microwave after my previous one would no longer work and I could no longer order parts for it. I have had other Kitchen Aid appliances and trust this brand. I had to order this size because the smaller cubic ones were too small for the space above my stove. Measure the distance from the bottom of the microwave to the top of the stove before purchasing this. The clearance space between my microwave and stove is only 3 inches but it doesn't seem to be a problem. The only negative comment I have is that this microwave is noisy.

Installation was easy, once I removed the existing cabinent and installed a new shelf to mount this to. The existing cabinent was too low and would've left the microwave way too close to the stove top. Intstructions were clear. It performs great and has more features than I will ever use. Looks nice with my kitchen aid stove. My only complaint is the fan is loud on any setting but low and is still not very quiet then.

Overall, very satisfied since this model has more of the features we required than anything else on the market now. This unit is one of the VERY few on the market with a completely recessed turntable - nothing sticks up over the bottom/floor so there is less danger of chipping or tilting a dish. This model also has a white interior instead of a dark finish used in so many other units. The only drawback is the noise from the fan. It is louder than their previous model and takes some time to get used to it.

Was unsure about using a micro for the fan over my gas stove, but it turns on automatically when the heat from cooking gets too hot-great!! My micro was always on the counter, but now I have more counter to prepare food. Buttons are sensitive to touch and cook foods in a snap!

This has been great so far, it is a little large that is my only complaint. We are going to have to have our cabinets raised as the microwave is awfully low as it hangs over the stove. Not sure if this is standard for all microwaves. But all in all, it's been a great purchase.

As with all stainless steel appliances, you're paying a premium for the finish. I have no complaints, as it is the bottom of the line unit in SS and I just added it to match the rest of my kitchen. It seems to work very well so far though. I would definitely recommend this oven if you don't need features like convection and a more intuitive interface.
