This machine replaces an old Kenmore with a middle tower that I had for many years. I wanted a dishwasher with a disposer I didn't have to clean & hot air heat. It is very quiet compared to my old dishwasher, but not completely silent, which doesn't bother me at all. I can be in the kitchen & have conversations without any really intrusive noise - what a difference from my old machine. I have had this one for 3 weeks & am washing loads less often because I can fit so much more in it. The racks have a lot of adjustment features & the 2nd shelf is easily adjustable, even when full, to one lower position. The flatware basket is very roomy with an extra utensil basket. The 2nd shelf has several clips for lightweight items & fold down racks. The best feature, the 3rd rack, (which I felt a bit guilty in spending the money on) has proved to be a big bonus & worth the money in my opinion. The rack is a narrow one at the top that can be used for knives, measuring cups, ladles, etc. Now I don't have to weave my long knives between the glasses on the 2nd shelf & worry about things flying around during a cycle. This rack has 2 tray inserts that can be moved into a lower position to accommodate even more items. The problem I have with this idea though, is that if the trays are in their lowest position, the 2nd shelf must also be in its low position (2nd shelf only has 2 positions) and then my dinner plates don't fit in the bottom shelf. Oh well, I still love the feature. This model has a cycle countdown (90 minutes for a regular load) 3 small blue lites let you know it is running and a single blue lite stays on to let you know it is done. If you open the door to grab a single clean item & want to fully unload at a later time, just don't close the door all the way & the lite will stay on as a reminder. Close the door all the way & the clean lite goes off. I have not used the power scrub setting so far because the normal setting is cleaning my dishes well. I use rinse aid as suggested & everything is dry when done. The stainless interior is great, but the exterior gets prints very readily. I am vigilant in getting everyone to touch only the handle, but it still gets prints - sigh. Overall, I am very happy with this product & would recommend it.

I have had this dishwasher for 2 years now. (just bought another one for my Dad - he loves it!) It's so quiet you hardly notice when it's running. Potscrubber feature works 100% whenever it's used. The third rack is addicting, and gets used all the time, although things that need major cleaning should be placed on the first 2 racks. Height adjustable 2nd rack - genius! Over the weekend, we stayed out of town at an upscale condo that featured all Viking Professional appliances. When we were loading the dishwasher, my wife commented about the difference in quality, our Kitchenaid being far superior. When we turned on the Viking, I was amazed how much quieter the Kitchenaid is. When we emptied it later, most of the dishes were still wet. Spend a bit more and get this one. Kitchenaid's customer service (if you ever need it) is outstanding. Like their mixers, their solid legacy with dishwashers is being carried forward quite respectably.

I love the casserole scrubbers in the back bottom rack. You want a dish cleaned... well use those puppies!!! I also love the third rack at the very top. I now have room for other things on the top rack (cups, bowls, etc...) because I now put my baking items at the very top and they get really clean as well!!!!!
Oh ya... and its really quiet!
