My grandfather and I bought this model to replace one we've had for a few years that had its solar sensor go bad. It's a great product because it provides an easy way to read both the outside and indoor temperature, doesn't require new batteries, and is easy to set up. The one drawback is that the solar panel went bad in the transmitter of the old unit we had, and in that scenario it would obviously be easier if we could just replace some alkaline batteries.

Overall, I love this item. We had another one, different brand for 15 years and it died. Had to find one to replace it and this one is great. Actually easier than our old one. All of the button are easily accessible, it is very simple and user friendly. If properly placed, the temperature is true to the actual temperature. My only complaint is the size of the monitor, larger than I would have wanted.

Have had mine for over a year, liked it enough to purchase a second unit for my upstairs. Both run on same wireless temperature sending unit, so I saved the second temperature sending unit as a spare.

Impressed by size of the display. Larger than I expected, easy to read from across the room. Acuarately displays temps based on comparison with mercury thermometer. Great value.

The setup was easy and everything worked great initially. After two days I noticed the outdoor temperature was not displaying so I thought the transmitter was not in a good location to charge from sunlight. That was not the case. The outdoor unit was transmitting and displaying the temperature on the remote unit. I reset the remote unit several times and pulled the batteries out of the main unit to no avail. I had thrown out the box it came in so I decided to use it on my enclosed porch to at least read the inside temperature and time. The third day of use the display locked up and I had to pull the batteries out and back in. Of course you have to reset the time and date once you pull out the batteries. This continued on a daily basis until I finally pitched it in the garbage can within a week. Luckily it only cost me $13. This item is no longer available on Best Buy's website and this review probably will not be seen by anyone but I felt compelled to get the word out just in case.
