    Synopsis

You've read the books, watched the films and built the sets. Now, you can play through your favorite scenes from The Hobbit trilogy — brought to life with the full LEGO treatment. Become Bilbo Baggins, get recruited by the Wizard Gandalf and get ready to embark on a thrilling journey through Middle-earth to aid the Dwarves. Beware dangerous and terrifying hazards that hide around every turn, but know that the unique — and sometimes hilarious — abilities of each character are there to help you. It's time to forge an exciting adventure — brick by brick.

Inspired by the first two films in The Hobbit trilogy — The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug — LEGO The Hobbit lets you join your favorite characters on a journey through Middle-earth. Follow along with your favorite scenes from the films, reconstructed with the full LEGO treatment, as you join Bilbo Baggins on a quest to help Thorin Oakenshield and his Company of Dwarves to reclaim their lost Kingdom of Erebor within the Lonely Mountain. Visit key locations from the films, including Bag End, the High Pass over The Misty Mountains, Goblin Town, Mirkwood and Rivendell as you explore Middle-earth. Mine for gems, discover loot from enemies, construct magical items, go on Treasure Quests and even craft massive new LEGO structures. Take the items you've collected and combined on your adventures to the Blacksmith Shop to forge new items using Mithril — the most precious metal in all of Middle-earth. Encounter Trolls, Orcs and, of course, Gollum and his Precious. Claim and wield the power of The One Ring by ruling a game of riddles. Embark on the adventure with family and friends by your side with the drop-in, drop-out gameplay. Get ready to leave the comforts of the Shire and trek through Middle-earth.

Let's start off with the bad; the story only covers the first two movies and the DLC to add the 3 movie was canceled, so the story isn't resolved in game. The different characters have a variety of skills for navigating the environment, and later in the game you get a large number of items with extra abilities, which should be a positive. However, the menu system is way too clunky to support all these options, and since your companions are a bunch of dwarves it takes a while to remember who has the ability you need. The combat is nothing to write home about. Okay, that's out of the way. The environments make excellent use of the Lego style, both building them up and smashing them apart. The levels are fun excuses to wreck havok, and the story sections are pretty good at laying the movie dialog on top of goofy Lego antics. Most of the individual abilities are fun to use and there are a ton of opportunities to use them both in level and on the massive world map. The game has good use of 2 player co-op whether you're teaming up in the story or wandering separately across the world. Despite the lack of an ending, there's a ton of content here.

I have played video games since 1978. The Lego games are among some of the most entertaining ones I've ever played. Yes, they may be a little more geared towards kids, but there is just so much to do and unlock in these lego games! It can take days and days to even come close to finding everything. This is a game that can be enjoyed by both kids and adults, with its entire theme from The Hobbit movie! And like all lego games, they are masters of playing with the individual themes that each game represents. They constantly throw in jokes and situations that keep you laughing and having fun!

My wife is a big fan of Lego games because they don't require a lot of complicated motions or stories. She likes to break things and laugh at characters. This is not a game for her. The game requires a good understanding of a lot of characters with very different abilities. Some interaction is confusing because items look similar to each other. Puzzles are a lot more difficult/complex than other Lego games we have played.

I wanted a simple lego game that my girlfirend and I could play. I'm sure this game would appease most lego/hobbit fans but there was just a little too much involved for me. I don't care about crafting or anything, I just want to play lego! I should probably give it another chance, but I prefer the older simpler lego games. Perhaps it's the actual Hobbit theme that got stale for me too fast. It's not a bad game.

We upgraded to an Xbox One from a Nintendo Wii last Christmas. We loved playing the Lego games on the Wii, and this was an easy transition. The extended mini challenges made for some thought outside of the normal game play. The only downside it that it is too short. It doesn't include the third movie, or not even the option to download it as an add on. If that was available it would be 5 stars.

This is my first experience playing a Lego game. I am a huge Lord of the Rings fan so figured why not it was 11 dollars. I would say this game is actually one of the better games ive played in awhile. The lego people make it fun to play a little different than what I usually play. If you can find it cheap snatch it up give it a shot. This would also be good for kids if you have any.
