      Good but too noisy

I've had the fridge for two months now and selected this one based on reviews of fridges that would fit the space. PURCHASE AND INSTALL: Best Buy installers were great. Although BB purchase support told me I had to buy the highly overpriced "proprietary'"(i.e. Whirlpool) ice maker connection kit the installer said I did not need it (which I already knew) but also told me I could return it. The trip to the store for a return was worth it. 5 stars to the installer, 0 stars to the customer service rep who lied - or maybe is is 0 stars to BB for encouraging phone reps to upsell. PROS: Unlike other reviews, my freezer door does not open when I close the fridge door and vice versa. The temp adjustments seem fine, and there is no frost in the freezer. Everything seems to work well. CONS: Like other reviews, the light is only decent for the front of the fridge and not the back. This has not been much of a problem although I did wind up sitting on the floor to rummage around the back of the second to the bottom shelf and find the relish I knew was in there somewhere. SUPER CON - NOISES: The first two days were quiet except for the ice maker. Pretty noisy but only when emptying the ice and refilling the maker with water. Not an issue. However this fridge has a cacophony of noises - well known to LG because they have a whole page in the troubleshooting guide to understanding the 9 types of noises. I was OK with seven of the noises except, except one that is so incredibly annoying it can drive me out of the room. I am not sure if this is the "Vibrating Noise", the 'Pulsating High-Pitched Sound" noise, or both at the same time. It sounds something like a bearing is going in the compressor and the fridge is screeching for help. This is the sole reason the overall review is getting 3 stars instead of 4. It is also the sole reason I hesitate to recommend this fridge to a friend - it sound like it will fail pretty fast. Hope I am wrong.

      Gorgeous fridge for smaller space

This was an upgrade to the very small top/bottom fridge that came with our house. We needed a larger fridge but with an older home/small kitchen we still had limited space for a fridge and also just could not stomach the price of the side by sides or french door models that would fit our width/height. This fit the bill, looks gorgeous and luxurious and gives us way more space than we had for food storage. Love the LED lights, especially lights in the freezer, and I also love the middle drawer for those smaller items that can get lost. Only notes are that the fridge part is really deep, which is great, but lighting back there would be helpful, not just on the sides. Also, if you want to move the shelves around, be sure to put them at the height you want before you put the fridge in place (unless you can open the door wide when in place). Our space is next to a wall. Got it centered, decided I wanted to move a shelf, and ended up having to wiggle it back out and angled to open the door wide enough to replace the shelf. Minor stuff though. We're happy!

It's energy star rated, which is a feature that I wanted, and it's stainless steel, something that I wanted as well. It is easy to level, easy to set the temperature and I keep a thermometer in both the refrigerator portion and the freezer portion and find it quite stable temperature wise. As for the shelves, the ones in the refrigerator are set just right, and the vegetable drawers are nice and deep. One thing that my old refrigerator had that's different on this one is the clear drawer is the full width of the refrigerator and shallow, so I don't wind up stacking up stuff in it only to discover that I've buried something that then goes bad. What I don't like about it is that the shelves on the doors aren't adjustable, though they do work for me pretty well. I didn't look for that feature before buying it. Also, the compartment where I would put a carton of eggs isn't large enough to fit a dozen eggs. That seems kindly odd. I keep my butter in it, but it's a bit large for just butter, so it doesn't seem to be the right size for quite anything. That's why I knocked a star off, and given a choice I'd give it 4 1/2 stars.

After having my Fridge for almost 19 years, I had to find one that would fit in a combined space. After nearly an hour of searching with a Best Buy Assistant,..we found on. I didn't want one with the water and Ice maker on the door and most of the newer models are way bigger than I can fit. This is a simple Top Freezer/Lower Refrigerator model that is a little smaller in width than my old one. The one drawback I found when I had it delivered is that it does have an Ice Maker and requires a water hook up,..But you don't have to. That set up with the Bucket catcher took up about a third of the freezer space,..but I found you can put other objects in that ice bucket other than Ice to make up for the space. It was a quick and easy delivery and the took my old unit away which was a major plus for me since I am incapable of doing this myself. Great Deal over all

top freezer broke down after only 15 months

      Posted

I bought this in December 2016, 19 months ago. In April, after 15 month, the top freezer made strange noises which we recorded. After that, the freezer worked on and off badly. Now it does not keep cold enough for ice cream - it gets runny, and we can't make ice cubes any more in the top freezer (we never connected the ice maker). Since a repair guy we called from Geek Squat said the sealed system needs to be replaced, we contacted LG. The repair people that they require for warranty said that while the parts are under warranty, it would cost more than $700 including service fee and taxes just for labor.... for a $899 fridge. So, we will not repair it. If you buy it, buy at least some extended warranty. The 1 year warranty is a joke. Also, while the fridge works fine, our electricity bill went up, not down, despite it being an supposedly eco fridge. Our super old one must have been more efficient, despite what people say!

      Great frig for smaller areas

I read the reviews prior to purchasing and they were mostly good. The negative comments were about adjusting the shelves and the taste of the ice. The shelves are adjustable but it is a smaller frig so the options for where shelves are is understandably limited. I was scared about the taste of the ice so I threw away the first 3 batches. One reviewer said the ice still had an off taste after a month! I ate a whole ice cube and have had several glasses full of ice and water and have not tasted anything but water so I'm not sure what they are talking about. All in all, it's a great little frig, love the LED lights and the fact that I can see everything that is in my frig at a glance. The freezer is more spacious than my last frig and it looks great with my new stainless steel range, which is also LG and I also love. Very pleased with this purchase!

Our old refrigerator died and after looking around at several stores and online we liked the look and features of the LG. We needed something quickly and we had prompt delivery within two days of purchase - . Delivery team was excellent - on time - courteous - and took away our old dead unit. The unit is quiet although a motor does kick on everytime you open either the refrigerator or freezer door - something I have never experienced with any other unit. LED lighting is good - storage is good even with a large control unit that is on the inside attached to the back wall that takes up more space than I would like. No issues with freezer or ice cube maker.

I purchased this refrigerator as I have a tight space for a refrigerator and only a top freezer would work. While I would have preferred to purchase it in white, only the stainless steel was available. I have had it for a month, and so far so good. I like the shelf space for meats, as it is roomy, but does not take up a lot of room. The LED lights are also nice and bright. I just wish that appliances were built to last for more than 10 years. The one item that I miss is a water dispenser. Surprisingly, you no longer can find water dispensers on freezer top refrigerators.
