Q: Can you remove and/or turn off the ice maker to have more space in the freezer. Also I don't have a water connection but I'm really interested in this refrigerator.

A: You can turn the ice maker off and because it is mounted high in the bottom freezer, it does not take up much space at all. It is important, however, that you remember to turn the ice make switch to the off position if its not hooked up, otherwise you might burn the motor out. We also did not need an ice maker. You will not be disappointed in this refrigerator, We are very happy with our choice.

Q: Are the glass shelves strong enough to support a gallon of milk? I realize I will have to adjust the shelf for height. I don't want to store milk in the door.

A: A gallon or two of milk, yes. But, not several gallons. Here is what I said on this topic in my full review: The tempered glass shelves are so wide (there is no divider. they span across the entire width of fridge), that they bow significantly under weight. OK to put a gallon jug on each side closest to the rail support. But, you will get bowing if placed in center. I put qty 8 gallon jugs on the bottom shelf with no problem. But, this is also my beer fridge. So, what I did was created support "beams" that integrated the middle glass shelf with the top glass shelf so the weight of all the beer bottles was distributed between the two shelves to eliminate (or at least drastically reduce) the bow of the top shelf. Pic attached for reference. LG should beef-up the thickness on the shelves or another alternative to add much more rigidity to them.

Q: Is this quiet?

A: Yes it is extremely quiet. The only time we really hear it is when the ice maker fills and the ice cubes drop.

Q: The description says 33" wide but specs say 34.875" wide. This is very important. Which is correct?

A: The correct width for the ENERGY STAR® Qualified LG - 33” Wide Large Capacity Bottom Freezer Refrigerator - Smooth White, Model # LDCS24223W should be listed as 32 3/4" (32.75") rounded off to 33". That listing of 34.875" (34 7/8") should be for the refrigerator's depth with handles...^IFV

Q: Does the LG LDCS24223S have some sort of filter for the water going into the ice maker?

A: No... but it costs about $10 to get an in line filter that lasts a year.

Q: Do fingerprints show a lot on this refrigerator? How easy is it to clean the fingerprints?

A: Here's my take on fingerprints because this was a huge concern of mind as well. With a family of six creating heavy traffic in and out of our kitchen, fingerprints will definitely arise with any polish SS material but every since I bought the Weiman's 22 oz Stainless steel cleaner and polish spray for $7.99. Wiping fingerprints away is a breeze now and the spray seems to apply a protective coating which lessens both the prints and cleaning afterwards.

Q: How loud is it? I mean decibels.

A: My phone app registers 43dba when the compressor runs while standing one step back from the fridge. The fans I can only hear if I put my ear on the side of the fridge and listen. Mine is not in a cabinet or anything that contains sound proofing, so you may be able to get it a little lower then that with a better space. Overall I can hear the compressor slightly while in the kitchen, but do not find it bothersome or distracting. Outside of the kitchen I cannot hear it. Noise was my number 1 priority when buying a fridge. I have found the compressor does not run a whole lot. When it’s off the unit is 100% silent. Hope that helps.
