5A quality flagship like the S8, only different!

I had the LG G2 and loved it. The G6 is very similar, but taller and totally updated and upscaled. Perfectly flat on both sides with curved corners and fully loaded with great features like Google Assistant, HD calling, NFC, OIS, Quick Charge 3, etc. Metal and glass materials make for a beautiful flagship - right up there with the S8 and iPhone. LG software is smooth and fast with no stuttering. Large battery gets me through a full day with moderate use. Fingerprint reader is perfectly placed! Feels and looks great. Confident to use. My wife has the Samsung S8, which has a gorgeous, oversaturated, blazingly bright, curved, Amoled screen, but is overly narrow with a lot of exposed glass. The G6 is only slightly wider, but still fits in the hand and has a nice flat-screen LCD with colors and brightness that are more natural and not as garish. The S8 is beautifully smooth and rounded all over, but it's VERY slippery, so a case is almost mandatory all the time. The G6 has has metal sides with smooth edges, so it's attractive, but more confident to grip. It feels more natural in my hand without a case, which is how I use it at home or in a carpeted office. Both are top-notch phones with great cameras and almost no bezels. But like the S5 and S6 I owned, Samsung is always in your face, downplaying the perfectly fine Google apps and pushing you into their own world of duplicate apps, services and themes - even including a 4th prominently placed button for Bixby, their not-fully-functional version of an assistant. The G6 is upscale but more unassuming. Just 2 buttons on the side, LG gets out of the way and let's you enjoy the experience of a well-rounded, quality, flagship phone. There are no headphones in the box and only a limited number of cases are available, but that's OK. Everything on the phone comes together and works well all the time, so the overall experience feels very complete and satisfying.

This review is from LG - G6 32GB - Black (Verizon)
I bought this when Best Buy had it on sale for $11.99 and I have to say I am thoroughly pleased with this phone! It is FAST and DOES NOT LAG AT ALL. The screen is BEAUTIFUL with VIVID colors and deep blacks and best of all, it is FLAT and not curved on the edges like the S8! The screen is AWESOME utilizing "Dolby Vision" technology. The phone is SO EASY TO HOLD and just feels "right" , at least for me. Very comfortable to hold for long periods watching movies or browsing the net. I did purchase a slim case to put mine in as well for protection in case of an accidental drop. Upon activation, the phone automatically updated and downloaded all my apps from my google account seamlessly! One feature you can activate I especially like is "comfort view" which filters out blue light to go easy on my eyes. Everything is so easy to set up, change or customize on this phone. If you like an app drawer no problem, just go into the settings and add it. LG has a lot of options to set your phone up to your liking and most are not "buried" in a sub menu that takes forever to find either. The battery on this phone lasts me almost two days. But then again I am not a "power user" but I do browse the net, text, check email, twitter etc. throughout the day but not constantly. When I have charged the battery it only takes maybe 2 hours at most? I have not charged it wirelessly yet but it is capable. A lot of reviews praise the dual camera on this phone and it I gotta say, now that I have used the "wide angle" lens, there is no going back! This camera is truly capable of taking some excellent shots especially in manual mode. Mostly I have left it in "auto" mode and generally have been pleased with excellent results. If you are inside in low light for the best results, I would set up your shot in manual mode. But this requires the same most of the time of any camera in a low light situation and most camera phones struggle in these situations. For the most part the G6's camera handles low light pretty well and the focus on this thing is lightning fast! The front camera gets the job done for selfies. I also purchased a 128gb class 10 SD Card for some extra storage as it only has 32gb of internal storage which almost half is already used for the operating system. Which brings me to some cons in my opinion and again these are just my opinions. 32gb of standard internal storage is a tad too low, most flagships do have atleast 64gb standard. Also, LG did away with the "Notification LED" on the phone this year in favor of an "Always on display" to show clock, phone status, notifications, battery etc. That is a useful feature as most phones have this feature but I miss the LED to "instantly" let me know if I have had a missed call or text or just to show me charging status. Simple. The "AOD" shows these things as well but at the same time drains battery life somewhat. You can set it up for the camera led to "flash" so as to alert you to notifications however. LG if you read this, PUT THE FRONT LED BACK in the G7! The G6 also has a headphone jack contrary to the trend manufacturers are taking to do away with one which is a PRO however, the US version of the phone does not have the sound "Quad DAC" that the Korean Version has. Listening through headphones still sounds great but I think LG should have made the QUAD DAC standard with all versions of the phone. Overall, the G6 is an EXCELLENT smartphone and I would buy it again even if it weren't on sale! Buy one and give it a try, you will love it!

5G6 is fly; Best Buy not so much
PostedAnthonyVerified Purchase
I hardly review products but decided to change that in hopes of helping someone. I'm rating this phone 5 stars because it does everything I need it to without problems and looks good while doing it. I've upgraded from the Note II which I had almost gotten 5 years of use out of it, and am quite content. I have never used a fingerprint scanner before but since this phone has that option I set it up, and it's super handy in general with some very clever placement. The design is easy on the eyes, the screen quality seems to be pretty good, I'm a fan of it. I'm even able to use the phone in sunlight which is an added bonus. It's a very fast device and I have yet to develop and problems with it. I don't really game on my phone (except for some Candy Crush) but it's nice to know I can if I choose to. Camera seems good, clear pictures and cool feature to use the double camera option. Front camera is also clear, a definite upgrade from what I was using. Call quality, speakers, and wifi all perform just as well as they should, nothing special. The only con I can find about this phone is that the camera lens scratches VERY EASILY, this hardly makes sense since I put the phone in the case as soon as I got it, and the case itself has at least 1/8" rise on the camera. In the end it doesn't bother me. I paired this phone with the Spigen Tough Armor case in gunmetal grey and some Supershieldz Tempered Glass, they both seem to work really well to protect my phone and I definitely feel safe with it. With Best Buy I was able to finance this phone out for a total amount of under $300 which is incredible. I don't see myself paying the retail price of any new $700+ phone, so I'm very glad I was able to snag a top of the line device for such a deal. This did not come without needless problems though. Purchasing the phone was painless enough, which is how it absolutely should be. However I ended up receiving the phone on June 1st, and no matter what I did I could not activate it. That's rather stressful to have bought something you can't use, and I ended up having to go out of my way to a Verizon store to see if they could assist me. I spent a few hours on the computer trying to activate my phone prior to leaving. It took about 2 hours before Verizon finally figured out that the phone is actually set to activate on June 3rd, and there's nothing they can do about it. From there I decided to head over to Best Buy and see if they could just activate it, but even then they couldn't help me, which is kind of ridiculous. I really wish I didn't have to go out of my way to find out that I can't use the phone I just bought for a few days. There should have been some kind of documentation with the phone or an email sent to me regarding this. In the end I am a satisfied customer, but there's no good reason for the problems I encountered with Best Buy. I hope something like this doesn't happen again in the future.

5Even better than the Galaxy S8+, crazy but true!

So I got the Samsung Galaxy S8+ on launch day, and while I admit, it was a really good phone, this LG G6 had it beat. And I'm a Samsung fan boy to boot, having owned the Note 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, and also the S7 Edge... Curious how? Well let me explain... The LG G6 is slim, feels small in the hand, yet has a 5.5 inch screen. The Samsung S8+ has a bigger screen, and a beautiful curve, but honestly, I actually prefer the flat non-curved screen of the G6. The curve of the S8+, while nice, secretly makes me angry, as it distorts movies, games and apps because of the curve. The G6 has excellent battery life, just as good as the S8+, so in this regard they are evenly matched. The G6 only cost me $294 (Verizon special) on device payment plan ($12 month)... The Samsung S8+ cost $864 ($34 month)... Trust me, there is no way the S8+ is worth $570 more than this LG G6... The only thing the S8+ has over this LG G6 is the Samsung Pay, and while I liked that feature, I would say it gives the S8+ a $100 increase in value over the G6, but certainly not a $560 increase. They are both waterproof phones, and they both have wireless charging, and the build quality in both devices are superb, equally matched in my book. That being said, when comparing apples to apples, this LG G6 is the best hidden gem of a phone in the market. Trust me, you will love this G6, and again, that's coming from a Samsung fan boy!

I was choosing among the Galaxy S8, iPhone 7 and LG G6 and am very happy with my decision to go with the G6. I was using an iPhone prior and was a bit hesitant to switch because of the user -friendly interface and compatibility with Macbook and iPad that Apple is known for. But after reading other user reviews, the G6 started to look more and more attractive. I like the large tall screen with beautiful graphics, water and dust resistance, Google assistant feature, high caliber camera, durability and portable and fast charging capability. Also the phone is just very visually appealing and feels sturdy and comfortable in the hand. Contrasted with the S8, which admittedly has beautiful graphics and many similar (and additional) features, I much prefer the G6. True story, the first time I went to pick up the S8, it slipped out of my hand - thankfully it was a floor model, moderately anchored to the station. Still, a bit too fragile for me. The S8 infinity display also felt oversensitive - I want to be able to hold my phone without worrying that I am opening apps randomly. I actually like the bezel of the G6, which has a mirror-reflective quality and yet is so subtle it doesn't ever detract from my on screen viewing experience. I don't mind the battery life, it suffices for a little over a day's worth of moderate use. Comparing it to the iOS and Apple phones is a little like comparing apples to oranges (no pun intended)...but I will say that the thought of not having a headphone jack in the iPhone 7 was really bothering me...so that was a no. So far I haven't really had reason to miss iOS. It depends on which features are most important to you, but I think this phone has a good combination of practicality, ease of use and durability. Highly recommend you check it out if you're looking for a new phone.

I will admit that I am biased on LG since I switched from a three year old LG G3 that served me well. I did seriously consider the Samsung Galaxy S8. It is a very nice phone and the super Amoled screen is a little better than the LG. But the galaxy just felt strange in my hand, like it was going to slip out at any moment. The G6 feels more solid and allows for a better grip. As far as specs and everything else, I don't need a super computer in my pocket. On a daily basis I use my phone for about five major tasks like phone conferences, listening to music, reading news, twitter, and email. I watch a few YouTube videos a week, listen to audible books, and occasionally shop for stuff. I don't install Facebook on my phone because it is such a resource hog. I just use the web browser. I like the longer screen. Overall I have had no issues with the G6. It does everything I need well. Oh, and did I mention the awesome cameras? Love the wide angle and the square shots. I think in 2017 any flagship Android phone is going satisfy 99% of what anyone needs. You can't go wrong with the G6.

5Great Phone
PostedDJSCJSMember
I had the Galaxy S5 for 3 years and had nothing but problems .Got this phone for no money down and $11.99 a month for 2 years . The day before got it from Verizon and had the same payment but had to put $200.00 down so returned it and got It at Best Buy This phone is great from the quick charge and I get a day and a half of use before charging it. The camera is very good with no blurring images . Even inside in a fairly dim room is good. I wish it would have had the Snapdragon 850 instead of the 821 but seeing professional reviews said it not that great difference but some. Also 32gig instead of 64 is a bit low but better than the 16 I had on the galaxy. The speed of the internet is good also. There is so much you can do with this phone. The reviews on smartphone websites compare this to the Galaxy S8.. Most say the only difference is the Snapdragon 850, a slightly better camera( one website said) and 64 gig of space. But for the money they say this is well worth it and I agree 100%. But that's just my opinion. Hope others agree

5The light users perfect standby phone!

This review is from LG - G6 32GB - Black (Verizon)
When I got it I was pleasantly surprised with the quality and the weight of the device. If you are a light user and don't constantly use your phone but need to check emails and notifications than you can't go wrong with this device. I use it just for that and had a hard time finding such. Most phones for whatever reason use about 5-10% of battery just by leaving it on at night. This phone however uses at most 3%. I was surprised that this phone lasted me 48 hours and I still have 20% left. I highly recommend this for the standby time alone let alone for all the other things this device brings. I however do not recommend this for the power user since you will mostly get out of it about 4 hours of screen time. Thanks for reading and hope you find what you like.
