LG gram 14" Laptop - Intel Core i5 - 8GB Memory - 256GB Solid State Drive
Got this as open box, in excellent condition as promised. This is among the very lightest laptops available, just 2.2 lbs for this 14-inch model. (There are also 13-, 15-, and 17-inch models available.)
Performance: This has the latest Whiskey Lake processor - i5-8265U. Performance is excellent for everyday tasks, but with integrated graphics only, it's not meant for gaming. Everything feels snappy thanks to the SSD, but note that it's a SATA drive, not the faster PCIe NVME kind. Still, in everyday use it's hard to tell any difference.
Connectivity: In addition to wifi and Bluetooth (Intel, so it's reliable), there are 2 USB-A ports, 1 USB-C, 1 HDMI, and micro SD slot. The USB-C port on this does not support Thunderbolt, but it does support Power Delivery and DisplayPort. The laptop comes with a barrel-type (proprietary) power adapter, but my 45W ZMI USB-C charger worked fine. The computer comes with an Ethernet dongle. Many heavier laptops don't have this many useful ports, and you end up carrying a bunch of dongles. Kudos to LG.
Construction: LG says the chassis is made from magnesium alloy. As with other magnesium alloy laptops I've used, they feel a bit plasticky compared to to the aluminum found in most premium laptops. But those typically weigh around 3 lbs.
Battery life: The 72 WHr battery has nearly twice the capacity of most notebooks this size (making it all the more incredible that LG managed to make it so light). 8-10 hours of normal use seems no problem. There's a setting in the LG Control Center to only charge the battery to 80%, which will give it better longevity than charging to 100%.
Display: Vibrant colors and can get more than bright enough. No touch on this model, but I didn't need touch anyway. The screen is glossy (not the glossiest I've seen though); I would've preferred matte.
Upgrades: Surprisingly upgradable, but I've only read about what's possible, haven't opened it up myself yet. RAM is 8GB, but unfortunately 4GB is soldered, with 4GB occupying the other slot. So if you want to upgrade it, you'll have to throw out 4GB. And if put 8GB or 16GB in the slot, it won't operate in full dual-channel mode. The m.2 slot supports NVME drives, so I plan to swap in a larger NVME drive.
All in all, an amazingly portable package. The lightness and battery life are a great combination for road warriors. If you need something as light as possible but still gives the full power of a quad-core 8th-gen processor, the LG Gram is a great choice.

LG gram 14 (2017)
The LG gram 14 is a super-light, speedy laptop with top-notch battery life. It lacks that luxury feel, but is a little less expensive than some competition. If ultimate portability is paramount, it should be on your short list.Full Review
LG's feathery 2017 update of its 14-incher gets a lot right, with an attractive display, solid input devices, and can't-kill-it battery life. Just know the minor sacrifices (audio, Webcam placement) you'll make for going this light.Full Review
LG Electronics joins the U.S. laptop market with a 14-inch Core i7 system that's lighter (2.16 pounds) than most 11.6-inch notebooks. Can it be too little of a good thing?Full Review

LG Gram 14 review: A bigger screen that weighs less
The LG Gram 14 makes a good first impression as a powerful, slim, midsize laptop. The biggest selling point is that it's very light, especially considering this is a 14-inch laptop with a powerful Intel Core i7 processor. But after a closer look,Full Review
