Very Similar to the Original 518
|Posted .Features
Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Just got the new G MX518. It looks and feels good. A bit shiny as the original 518 looks flat in comparison that I have had for a long time and is still up and running. Its been my favorite mouse so I decided to get this one as backup. Can't say much about durability yet but time will tell. Logitech warranty has been excellent in the past but notice this one comes with a one year warranty compared to some older mice that had a three year warranty. Overall it seems very similar in feel to the original and although I have not weighed both on a scale for comparison, the weight feels very similar to the original so I am pleased with the purchase. If you have used the original 518 and liked it like I do, then you will like this mouse too. Cheers!

Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5I don’t use this for gaming but it’s been good for al the online schooling I’ve been doing assignments and whatnot sorry I can’t have a more useful review. I do agree on other people’s reviews that the scroll wheel seems a little cheap though.

A great classic is back with update Hero sensor
|Posted .Owned for 1 week when reviewed.Features
Quality4 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Pros mentioned:Grip, SensorLogitech improved upon a great series of gaming mice with the G MX518. Same classic shape which works well for larger hands and my preferred mouse grip style. The new Hero sensor is extremely accurate and doesn't skip. Rubber mouse cord unlike some other G models mice. But works really well and I might not even do a paracord mod. Top of G MX518 is smooth without any texture with rubberized sides to the body. I prefer this over G500/G5 finish and also it's much lighter than those mice. Logitech G MX518 > G500 > G5 > MX518

Return of a classic - Easy recommendation
|Posted .Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.Features
Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5For those old enough to remember the G5 and the G500, this is a return to that style of mouse, and it is done incredibly well. The ergonomics are comfortable for many sizes of hand, and the weight is very balanced. The HERO optical sensor and processing are extremely responsive and versatile, particularly when you use the Logitech G Hub software to modify everything to your liking. However, even without the software, you have the ability to switch between pre-defined DPI settings easily, with a "home" button to switch you back to the default sensitivity. The only thing that I miss on this model, compared to many of the higher-end and modern offerings from Logitech is the infinite/hype-scroll wheel. Most of my other models are equipped with that, and I have grown quite accustomed to having it, so this is about the only shortcoming that I could call out. Not enough to stop me from buying this more than once, both for my own use, and for friends and family. All told, this is an easy recommendation as a go-to for office warriors, power users, gamers, and about anyone who needs accuracy, comfort, and customization options.

A Very Good Mouse
|Posted .Owned for 1 week when reviewed.Features
Quality4 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Pros mentioned:Buttons, Grip, PriceCons mentioned:Product construction, RgbThis mouse really excels at just being a mouse, and, for a certain audience, the price moves it from "good choice" to "no brainer." The MX518 is a wired optical mouse that's based on a truly classic design from Logitech's earlier years. It feels very good in-hand and accommodates a variety of grip styles. The buttons offer a solid click and the scroll wheel is sturdy, tactile and clicks with an easy confidence. I have need of reliable middle mouse click and click-and-hold interactions on a regular basis, so that aspect of the MX518 is a definite high-point. The sensor, unsurprisingly, offers stellar, lag-free precision. Multiple DPI settings and quick DPI switching, along with a useful "back to default" DPI button, make the mouse versatile whether gaming or working. Logitech's G Hub software manages to do exactly what good peripheral software should do - stay out of the way, using minimal system resources, until I actually need it. On the negative side, the mouse does feel less sturdy and premium then its progenitors. It's noticeably lighter - your mileage may vary on that, but I prefer a weightier mouse - and the materials feel cheaper. The plastic on the palm and finger rest in particular seems to be a magnet for skin oils. The mouse cord is also a simple, functional rubber and not a sturdier braided cord. Consistent with that same sense of cost consciousness the MX518 doesn't have any RGB lighting or fancy visual flourishes. Considered as a complete product, though, the MX518 is a great mouse. It works very well, it feels very good, and it will doubtless exceed the expectations of most users. Taking a classic, battle-tested design and updating the internals with quality, modern technology was a smart move and the result is a definite win at this price point.

A classic
|Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.Features
Quality4 out of 5Value4 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Pros mentioned:Buttons, Fit, GripCons mentioned:Product construction, WheelShape: The shape is great for a 1-3-1 grip. It's a larger mouse and the shape of this mouse is comfortable for palm, claw, and fingertip users. It's a safe shape and not too bulky. Cable: The cable is nothing to brag about. It's a thin rubber cable. The cable is slightly longer than the market average. Scroll Wheel: The scroll wheel is bad. It feels cheaply made and squeaks. The mouse wheel has an alright click, but still does not feel great. Feet: The feet are smooth. Unless you really care about it, you do not need to shop for any aftermarket feet. Buttons: The buttons are okay. They are less prone to double-clicking as they use 20M Omron as opposed to 50M. The buttons are satisfactory, but not special. Coating: The coating is glossy. I don't mind this. It feels nice. If you sweat a lot, this mouse may not be for you as glossy coating can get really dirty. Weight: This mouse is not what you want to get if you're into lightweight mice. The weight comes in at a little above 100g, which feels like a brick if you are used to much lighter models. The mouse, however, has great weight distribution so it may not feel like 100g. The weight has been reduced from the previous version. I would recommend this mouse if you're looking for a cheap deal. This mouse goes for $20 on sale which is great value. This mouse, while heavy, is definitely viable for FPS and MOBA games.
