A: You need 2 110v outlets by the DVR. One for the DVR and one for the cameras. There's a power cord that has 4 male/female ends that attach to each camera and back at the second power brick by the DVR. One note, the fan is really loud. I couldn't put the DVR in any room and ended up setting it up in a garage cabinet. After a few weeks, I read online that you can cut out the slotted vents in front of the fan and the noise goes away. I removed the top and the noise was gone. I cut out the vents and that solved the problem, but the DVR stays in the garage because I don't want to fish all the lines again. Just FYI.
A: The video is stored on the DVR and not in the cloud or your mobile device. So if someone broke in and took or destroyed the DVR you would lose all the video.
A: Yes you can have the cameras record constantly and send alerts when there is motion detected. Because the cameras are recording constantly you will go to your timeline and play back the actual motion video. Its easy to do and the app is easy to navigate.
Q: do you have to have system connected to the internet?
A: No, internet connection is not required. The system works without internet connection. If not connected then you cannot stream the feed to your mobile device and you do not get the alerts.
Q: How long is the warranty period ?
A: They have a 1 yr manufacturer warranty on defects. My suggestion would be to get the warranty from best buy. We brought a system exactly 2 years ago and we purchased the 2 year warranty and since its not working they gave us a full refund and are uninstalling and reinstalling a new set that we purchased from them. The warranty is well worth it since we had problems from the beginning with the old set of cameras at night.
Q: Is this surveillance system 4K
A: The cameras are capable of 4k and the video captured and stored on the local DVR hard drive can be 4k. If you have a 4k monitor attached to the DVR then the images you see will be in 4k. If however you are using remote access and streaming the video to a tablet, pc or phone then the video you see is a sub stream and of a lower resolution.
Q: DO these cameras require a power wire or are they powered over the ethernet wire?
A: No, they are not "powered over the ethernet wire" because they do not use ethernet cable. These use the older BNC cables (think round plugs). The BNC cables are harder to run as they are bigger than an ethernet cable and A LOT bigger than an ethernet cable before the plug is attached. Its very misleading of them to not include the rear picture of the DVR which would have easily tipped you off to this not using POE.
