Did I mention it's a Tablet?
||Posted .So far I'm loving my Surface Pro with i7 processor, 16gb RAM, and 500gb SSD, it runs very quiet as it's fanless, but stays cool. Microsoft hello logs you in quick with camera recognition, touch screen is responsive, no lag or slowdown, the stand can be adjusted at any angel you want just not flat all the way back (of course if you want it flat just return it back to its original position), Surface Pen and Surface Keyboard goes nicely with it, but the downside of having to purchase them separately. I originally planned to edit videos and use this for schoolwork and work. If you're planning to game on this stay away from it. For $2k you can build a way better gaming PC as this comes with no Graphic Card aside from onboard gpu that's pretty weak for gaming. I dislike that there is only 1 port for 3.0 USB. Oh btw there is no lighting port that everyone wants. In the end I still like my Surface Pro 2017, would have been nice if it could game. Oh did I mention it's a tablet and portable.

Better than a Tablet or Laptop
||Posted .I used a Surface Pro at my last company and thought it was an interesting corporate selection. I pondered getting one for my own personal use, and finally took the plunge on the price reductions from Microsoft. I purchased the newest Pen, Surface type cover and Surface Dock as a starter. I'll review two other accessories separately. First: quality product look and feel, from packaging to the system itself plus accessories. Magnetic attachment of the keyboard/cover is strong and leaves no doubt they are connected. The Surface Pen also is strong when you place it on the left side of the system, and the single cable for the docking station works regardless of direction, a nice change for this latest dock version. The built in kickstand has been a big plus, saves on the multi-purpose cover purchase. Second, Performance: Extremely clear graphics, works great as a tablet, still functions better than anticipated in a desktop scenario with via the dock to an external monitor, mouse and keyboard. As one would expect, great for general administrative/office type usage with the MS suite of applications. The plus was the performance as a gaming desktop. Games will kick up the heat on the system a bit but the very quiet fan/cooling design keeps up and isn't a noisey one. It will get warm as you play complex/graphic intensive games like Sins of a Solar Empire, so I recommend doing that only in a desktop mode, not as a tablet on your lap! The system start up is the one gig I had, I wasn't aware (my fault) that the Surface Pro is automatically a bitlocker encrypted system. Microsoft is also very smooth when creating the original account/login process, pushing you to use your Microsoft account rather than creating a local login. Then they warn you of the bitlocker key problems you could have when you do shift to a local account. That ruffled my feathers a tad but I worked through it. The keyboard and surface pen: stellar performance, look and feel. We will see how the Alcantara material holds up, they did offer a simple and easy way to keep it clean in the documentation. Time will tell. FYI: I purchased the Cobalt version so it shouldn't show any minor smudge so immediately like a platinum version could. Overall, Quality system, very fast in the i7, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD configuration. Yes, even with the price reduction it is a bit on the high side. That said, I would buy it again and with less hesitation this time around. Worth it...

The best computing system I have ever owned
||Posted .I'm just starting my Master's program and decided to buy a new laptop and went with the Surface Pro. I must say that I have always wanted one since they first came out, but had no real justification to spend the money on one. Now that I do, wink, I could not resist in getting it, and I must say that I am impressed. This is the best of both worlds in portability of a tablet and functionality of a laptop. It's easy to take notes and to read my articles and make notes right on it, all without having to print anything. The price is steep on the Surface, especially the i7 512 16 model, but so far worth every penny. P.S. get the Otterbox for it, because if you are like me I am very clumsy, and this protects it all around.

Awesome computer!
||Posted .I use this computer for all my school work, digital and video art with Photoshop and even some light gaming. It runs like a dream! It handles all of those things easily. It does get pretty hot after a while and these bigger programs do drain the battery kind of quick. But external batteries are an option and I just keep my power cable close so it has never been and issue. I use this computer everywhere and being light weight it never weighs me down when traveling. I also pair it with a bluetooth keyboard and headphones when im doing art and listening to music. Its a great setup and id reccomend it to anyone artist or otherwise.

Great computer for instructors!
||Posted .I've used the Surface Pro computer line for about 4 years now. I love the portability for carrying to class. Displaying my notes for engineering classes using the stylus, OneNote, and a display adapter works really well, PLUS I can record the screen and my voice for students to review recorded lectures outside of class. The battery life for this computer is at least 1.5x better than for my Surface Pro 3. Very satisfied.

A very versatile tablet
||Posted .After deciding to take my surgical dental practice totally digital I needed an easy way for my patients to complete their registration information after checking in. Patients find it easier and more convenient than the old way of ‘filling out ones paperwork’. Streamlining the process with these tablets will allow my team to process our patients information more accurately and efficiently.

Very happy Mac convert
||Posted .Decided I wanted touch in my desktop experience which Apple just refuses to do. Made this my daily driver and couldn't be happier. Really portable and finally all day battery life (not 13.5 hours as claimed but a decent 7 to 9 if you back off the performance bar, a little better than my old MB Pro 13). Great performance. Makes a great tablet or laptop. Yes it's expensive but after trying several of the competition it's build quality is clearly superior. So if you want good battery life and a great screen and high portability and a great keyboard and trackpad and a great pen you have to pay Microsoft's ask. If you're willing to compromise on a thing or two there are some really good alternatives that are cheaper. For me at least it was definitely worth it.

Amazing Portable Computer
||Posted .The Surface Pro with the detachable keyboard is a very powerful portable laptop computer. I replaced my ASUS desktop with it and added two high definition 24" Lenovo monitors, Bamboo Ink stylus, Logitech wireless keyboard & MX Master mouse and connected everything plus my external speaker system using the Microsoft docking station. Amazing & powerful!

Q: QuestionCan I use Photoshop and the full Adobe suite with-out any slow down?
Asked by Design.
- A:Answer I upgraded to the i7/16/512 last week and it is a big improvement over my previous SP3 i7/8/256. I only use Lightroom and Photoshop, not the entire Creative suite. I use an external USB drive for my working disk space for images. I'm quite satisfied with the performance.

Q: QuestionWe need to replace our SP4 with fingerprint... will our existing keyboard work with this new model? Thanks in advance.
Asked by Zmom.
- A:Answer The Surface Pro 4's type cover will unfortunately not be compatible with the newest model of the Surface Pro. We recommend looking into the Surface Pro Type Cover with Fingerprint ID at Best Buy here: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/microsoft-surface-pro-type-cover-with-fingerprint-id-black/5948546.p?skuId=5948546.

Q: QuestionIs this compatible with Adobe CS? Has anyone ever tried using design software on this? Thx
Asked by IG.
- A:Answer The Surface Pro was designed to have the same functionality as most laptops that run the programs you desire. Be sure to check the specs requirement of the program, with the specs of the Surface device you would like to run it on, including the processor, RAM, and storage capacity requirements. The processor for this device is an Intel Core i7, the RAM is 16GB, and the SSD is 512GB.
