Synopsis

Neighbors
An immature couple with a newborn infant go to war with the fraternity that turns their once-peaceful neighborhood into party central in this outrageous comedy of one-upsmanship. Restless thirtysomethings Mac (Seth Rogen) and Kelly Radner (Rose Byrne) are still clinging to the last vestiges of their youth as they attempt to adjust to the rigors of raising a newborn in their picturesque suburban starter home. When a massive moving truck pulls into the driveway next door, the bleary-eyed pair grow excited at the prospect of getting new neighbors. Unfortunately for Mac and Kelly, the new arrivals turn out to be the Delta Psi Beta fraternity. Even so, the couple remain convinced that they still have a modicum of cool left in them, extending a hearty greeting to popular chapter president Teddy Sanders (Zac Efron) and hoping for the best. A few epic parties later, however, and Mac and Kelly have had more than their fill of the frat's wild antics. Before long the gloves have come off, and a turf war erupts between the parents who only want a solid night's sleep and the Greeks who crank up the stereo until the crack of dawn. Who will win is anyone's guess, but one thing's for sure -- this neighborhood isn't big enough for the both of them. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

At its core, this movie contains all the familiar conventions of a raunchy college comedy: crude s3x jokes, rampant drug use, gratuitous nudity, grossout gags, goofball supporting cast, wild partying, insane pranks. But there are also a number of things which this movie not only does differently but especially well, elevating the film beyond the usual sophomoric comedy. One noticeably unique facet is the strong female lead. The wife character is not relegated to simply backing up her husband, or playing the safe and sensitive voice of reason. Rather, she might be even more deranged and aggressive than her male counterpart in terms of pushing the outrageous hijinx. It's certainly refreshing to see a woman allowed to participate with such decadent abandon in the typically male-dominated frat-house genre. The movie is also gratefully lacking in the usually sappy and maudlin romance/soul-searching subplots that usually weaken and drag on these types of comedy free-for-alls. There are a few tender moments in there, but it basically just lets everyone go crazy for maximum laughs. Another clever part of this film is the gray morality which all the main characters inhabit. There are no clear good guys vs. bad guys, as all the major players waver back and forth in their actions and likability. At varying points, every character in the film vacillates between being a righteous hero and a vile villain, just depending on the degree of their latest, insane shenanigan. This movie delivers on its promises. The progressive story structure aside, this movie is ultimately just a very funny flick. I guess you either like this kind of comedy or you don't.

I had no idea what to expect with this movie. I actually went into Best Buy to buy the first season of Arrow, but found out you could get Neighbors on blu-ray for $9.99 just by buying a TV show, so I figured why not? Luckily, this movie exceeded my expectations and it one of the funniest comedies I have seen in a long time. Rogen and Efron have the most awkward and hilarious chemisty, and both Byrne and mini-Franco deliver as well. The baby is ADORABLE. This movie reminds me of a lot of timeless comedies, such as American Pie, Fast Times at Ridgemont High and The HangOver. It is raunchy, but classy at the same time. A good time - just don't watch it with the kids.

I thought that this movie was good. The jokes in this movie are well incorporated and hove more sustenance than a typical Seth Rogen movie. Once I understood the types of jokes that would be used I was able to enjoy the move and get into the story line which does well to develop the characters. The movie does depict modern college life and I expect that a younger (though not too young) audience would enjoy the movie more.

I really enjoy the movie Neighbors. I thought it was a pretty hilarious movie. I wasn't sure when I first watched it if it would be all that funny or if maybe I fell for another movie that showed all the funny parts in the trailers. Surprisingly this movie had me rolling throughout the movie. The duo of Efron and Rogen was pretty close to being comedic gold for me. I figured it would be overly raunchy, but I think it had a great balance (unlike This is the End). I thought it was a funny movie and well acted. I would recommend this (Given your over 18).

If you're expecting the typical hilarious Judd Apatow film, you'll sadly be a bit disappointed. While Seth Rogen is lovable and always fun to watch, Zac Efron just isn't James Franco, Danny McBride, Paul Rudd, or Jason Segel. I feel like this movie definitely tailored to the needs of 2014's teenagers with the silly comedy and Greek life cliches. You could tell Rogen and Rose Byrne were doing their best to exaggerate the humor to get the audience's attention. It just looked too forced, in my opinion. Wasn't impressed by this movie.

This was a very funny movie. If I had to recommend it to a stranger I would simply ask, "Do you like Seth Rogen movies?" If the answer is yes, then you will enjoy this movie. It's the same style with Seth Rogen playing essentially the same character he always does. The crazy thing though is that I would prolly say Seth Rogen is the 4th or 5th funniest person in this movie. Zac Efron and Rose Byrne are far more hilarious. All in all I'd say it was a good movie that made me laugh several times throughout.

I got this cheap on a sale deal thinking it would be a really funny comedy as i usually enjoy a Seth Rogen film. I thought how bad could it be? This one wasn't real good at all. The premise seemed good, but it really fell flat. It wasn't very funny. It was pretty boring for the most part and just about everything else was toilet humor. I love a good comedy with some toilet humor, but this was honestly pretty brutal. The set is only worth it if you can find it for $5 maybe? Even then, i'd say pass!
