A Feeble Atempt At Bringing Hockey To The Wii

When i first put this game into my Wii i was quite excited, my excitement ended at the opening menu. The menu design is complicated to figure out for a 1st time user and the angle's at which the jerseys are displayed makes them hard to see. Once you figure out how to start the tutorials you will be better off. The control scheme is the main problem for this game, the Wii remotes are not designed with enough easy access buttons for an NHL game. 2K Sports tried to solve this problem by using the remotes shaking ability but it didnt turn out well. There is a point where you just get sick of waving your arm around to shoot, check, and fight. The directional pad is not used very wisely at all. Each direction is used to deke/wave your stick, depending on whether or not you have the puck. the puck can be hard to follow because of the terrible camera angle, which can be adjusted to personal liking, but does not include enough options. Now for the goalie play. I applaud 2K Sports for attempting to make playing goalie fun, by pressing certain buttons and moving the Wii remote in certain directions your goalie will butterfly, poke check, stack pads, etc. It works ok but needs some refinement. The shootout options for the goalie, however, are not even close to hitting the mark. You start out by keeping your goalie square to the shooter, then just as the player is about to shoot everything freezes and you are asked to hold the remote and nunchuck in certain position. The position you you need to put your controllers in in know way corresponds to where the puck is going and 80% of the time it does not recognize that you have it in the correct position and and the player scores (though this does not guarantee a goal the chances are high). The game does not include and creation options(player, team etc.) and the graphics are just ok, nothing great and sometimes feels unnatural. Overall this game is a very weak attempt at bringing hockey to the Wii and i would not buy this game(i luckily decided to rent it first.)

this game is the first hockey game for the wii. luckily it was a good one. the controls are ok but you can get used to it. the opening menu is the worst. the players all have the same face... the fighting is fun. in between periods you can drive a zamboni!! the graphics are not the best. otherwise it is a good game and i would recommend buying it.

i cant play a season or franchise because it freezes every time. doesnt always let u call up player from minors when u need to (if u have too many injuries in playoffs, u cannot continue. u have to restart the whole season). player rating automatically decreases just because of age (starts at about 34). doesnt use retired jerseys(i hate how no hockey games do this)

I think it is a good game if you like hockey. It is basic but that is what is good about it. The graphics could be better but not a reason not to buy. Generally good game play and very good passing controls.

This was the first hockey game I've bought for a Wii. It's ok but it could use a few corrections for next year. But if you like the "interactive" pace of other sport games for Wii, then you should enjoy this version.

Overall this is a fun game, but 2k Sports is a step behind EA Sports. Its very hard to fight in this game, but i just turned that off and am having a lot of fun in my franchise mode. If you like hockey games, then this game will be fun.

Pretty good game, although there are too many little errors that need to be tweaked for next years versin. I would only recomend this product to a die-hard nhl fan like myself.

Do not buy it. Waste of your money. Motion only in the book. Game does not pick any motion whatsoever.
