      Great camera

I am not a professional photographer but I wanted something smaller than a DSLR that could produce high quality images. I tried high end point and shoots ($300-$400) and was disappointed. So I decided to spend a bit more and go this route. While I miss the compactness of the point and shoots, this is still pretty small (much more convenient than the DSLRs), it has changeable lenses, and picture quality is FAR superior to most (if not all) point and shoots. I didn't need 4K video so I saved some $$ over the new model with this one. I've used mainly canon and olympus cameras. I like both but IMO, I like the olympus picture quality better. This camera also takes pretty nice video and I see some reviews say the mirrorless cameras may even do a better job at video than DSLRs. It would not surprise me. Battery life lives up to what you see in the specs--I'd say pretty good. I also like that the batteries are charged in a separate charger which means you can have a few charged spares and simply swap them instantly. No waiting to charge the camera. Finally I love that I can touch the screen exactly where I want the focus to zero in on--that is awesome and I don't get pics with the subject blurry and a coke can in the background in sharp view. Since it is has been replaced by the mark III model, I don't know how much longer this option will be around so if you are interested, I would get it soon. With this available, the mark III just didn't seem worth the extra $$ for my needs. Absolutely love it!

      A complex machine

The camera has a _very_ extensive set of capabilities and to take advantage of these, there is a learning curve. The abbreviated manual that comes with the camera only touches on some of the basic operations and downloading the full pdf version of the manual is a must. For me the ability to have entire manual control (including focus, shutter speed, aperture) is a fundamental feature since often auto-focus can fail and the use of polarisers can all fool the automatic selection of speed and aperture. So far I am satisfied, but having used it for less than a month there is still much to learn.

I have used it a few times, but still working out how to use it. First thought was how small it felt in my hands. Took a few pictures and was surprised how nice the pictures turned out considering I wasn't even sure how to use it yet. I really wanted this camera for closeup shots. Still not sure if this camera will do nice closeups, so I can't honestly say either way as to weather I could recommend this camera to a friend, but since the review process mandates that you answer yes or no to that question, I'll go with yes.

      Cool camera

I have been using Nikon SLRs and DSLRs for quite a while. A friend who is a professional photographer recommended this camera because it is so small and light. LOVE IT! The camera has a lot of features that I am in the process of learning. But so far the pictures I have taken have been pretty good. I do like to photograph animals and it is pretty quick.

Love the ease of use and the picture quality. I have not yet used most of the settings because the 'auto' does such a good job. The only reason I am not giving a 5 star is that you can't charge the camera via USB or plug in, you have to make sure you always have the separate battery charger and remove the battery to charge it.

Used this camera with 45, 75, 12mm Olympus lenses. Jpegs are excellent out of camera. Chose Olympus over other brands because of the lens choices and reasonable prices and not to mention less bulk and weight to carry around for travel!

Bought this camera to take on our fist African Safari. We got so up, close, and personal to all the Big Five and dozens more animals. We took 300 pictures and the quality of the pictures was fantastic rivaling others with huge fancy lenses.
