    Synopsis

    Paul Blart: Mall Cop
A New Jersey rent-a-cop gets his moment to shine as the holidays approach and Santa's little helpers stage a coup at the local shopping mall in this comedy starring King of Queens' Kevin James. Paul Blart (James) is a single suburban dad attempting to make ends meet by working as a mall security guard. Paul takes his job very seriously; unfortunately the same can't be said for the shoppers he deals with on a daily basis. That all changes the day that Santa's little helpers shut down the mall and start taking hostages, including Paul's daughter and his main squeeze. Realizing that no one knows the mall better than the man who's paid to guard it, Paul mounts his Segway and speeds to the rescue. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

      Picture is distorted and hazy

Mall Cop is another one of those blue ray movies that present it self as a high definition movie that is not an HD quality made film It is clear that this movie like many other blue ray movies was not filmed with an HD camera/equipment. Many film companies especially the big movie companies Such as Disney, paramount, Sony, and Universal among others are not making movies in HD blue ray but salling these movies at a HD price. The Picture throughout the movie is distorted and hazy around the actors and other images in all the scenes in this movie. So please be careful because all blue ray movies are not made in HD and they are charging us $30 to $37 for poorly made movies. Please rent them first before you buy them. it would save you a lot of money and disappointment. Buy the regular DVD instead if you really have to have this movie in your movie library or wait until the price is lowered This is not a true blue ray made movie, do not buy it at the HD price. Wait!! Do not be fooled by others who may say it is funny and a must have movie. I also rented the movie “defiance” as well and I will watch it tonight and give an up date on the HD quality in this movie as well. I hate to see movie companies rip people off of their hard earned money.

Kevin James fans and fans of King of Queens will like this film. This is not The English Patient. It's not even a movie that takes itself seriously so I don't understand why so many reviewers are. It's a campy family movie about an overweight Mall Security Guard, er, Officer, dealing with some ridiculous setbacks and adversity after the triumph he experienced at the end of the original Mall-Cop. His life takes a change for the better when he is invited to attend the Security Officer's Convention in Las Vegas... that is until he encounters doubters, ridiculers, fear of his daughter leaving for college, and last but not least, kidnapping art theives. He still gets his triumphant day in the sun starting when he has to fill in to give a motivational speech to the convention delegates (my favorite part of the movie). This is where the movie begins to find its bearings and ignites a continuous series of funny moments until Paul Blart is once again victorious and proves that he is the best in the security biz.

      Pretty Funny

This movie is very funny, at times. Some times can get boring, but most of this is funny. Being the fact that he's a mall cop that everyone underestimates, and he "saves the day" by slowly picking off all the criminals trying to rob the mall he works at. I first thought this was like the funniest movie ever. But if I look at it closer, I realize that humor isn't 'always' everything (even though I like comedies even if the movie stinks), the plot is pretty bad, as it's to original. If your looking for a funny, family-friendly movie, then you should definitely buy this! If your looking for a serious, and good action movie, then you should look some more.

      Great Family Movie!

For the reviewers that give this movie a thumbs down, I am assuming that they cannot appreciate "clean" comedies anymore. With all of the junk out there, I think this is a refreshing change of pace, and I enjoyed the fact that I could watch a comedy with my kids. I thought Kevin James came across perfectly in this role, and there were also some moral lessons to be learned from the film. It may not appeal to 20 or 30 year olds on a "date night," but I think it is perfect for family movie night or to pop in the DVD player for the kids on road trips. I give it 5, no make that 6, Stars!

What a commercial for Segway Scooters!

3 of 5 stars for the shopping mall police story Paul Blart Mall Cop. Another way to look at this comedy movie is a 1.5 hour commercial for Segway scooter. OK, Kevin James plays Paul Blart Mall Cop. Of course, Paul has a crush on a girl working in the mall. Blart is shown to be training a new hire who later is part of a group who invade the Mall taking hostages and robbing the bank. With the parking lot full of SWAT teams, it is Blart to the rescue of the girl and saving the mall. This is a cutely dumb movie. A bit funny. Easy on the brain and worth the time to watch it.

A single, suburban dad tries to make ends meet as a security officer at a New Jersey mall. It's a job he takes very seriously, though no one else does. When Santa's helpers at the mall stage a coup, shutting down the megaplex and taking hostages (Paul's daughter and sweetheart among them), Jersey's most formidable mall cop will have to become a real cop to save the day. Refreshing to see a movie without bad language, , good script writing, and enjoyable throughout. Characters were real and relatable and very funny.

Good family movie. Nothing really raunchy in it, and personally I think it has laugh out loud moments scattered througout from beginning to end. The plot is not bad either, but the nice part is that you dont really have to pay close attention to it. Of course, wait until it goes on sale. I would certainly not spend 29.99 on it - then again, I would say that about any movie...

If you're looking for a lot of laughs, this movie is a good movie to watch then. I saw this movie and realized that this is the type of movie where you are just looking for laughs and don't care much about the story. Basically, Kevin James is a corny mall cop who gets in over his head doing his job. I thought Kevin James was funnier in Chuck and Larry, but I did enjoy this movie.
