Philips - BDP2205/F7 - Streaming Wi-Fi Built-In Blu-ray Player - Black

I was amazed at how easy this was to set up. Poped in a region 2 DVD and it just played. Good price too...

I bought this Blu-ray player to replace my broken Sony Blu-ray player. It works well. The speed and controls of the device are great. No flaws in play back and it loads discs very quickly. The device is quiet. I haven't utilized any of the other features beyond putting in a disc and playing it, so I cannot comment on the wifi or apps. The only things I would change on this device is that the only buttons on the player itself are the eject and power buttons so if the remote gets lost or broken, then the functionality of the device is gone as well. The eject button on the device sometimes doesn't work. If I am changing discs and try to close it quickly after the change it doesn't respond and I have to get the remote to do so (this is more annoying to me personally because the eject button was what was broken on the device I replaced this with and I am basically having the same problem). I don't know if it is just my device or if all would have this issue. My last change would be the remote. It doesn't have any textile indicator of a play or stop button. It also doesn't light up. It is hard in a dark room to control playback features. I often press the wrong button and stop the entire disc from playing returning to the menu screen when I was trying to pause or rewind.

This was an inexpensive BluRay DVD player that I understood was an international brand. Opened the box, hooked it up, inserted a region 2 DVD and it played. Dosen't get any better than that. Now, time will tell as to the quality of the player...

The player is really great. It plays CD'S, DVD's and of course BLU-RAYS. Simple and easy to use, my only complaints are the buttons on the unit are not very responsive. When you push power you expect it to turn on or off immediately, same thing with the open/close tray for the discs. The remote is easy to use but the same problem exists there too. Only other thing I don't like is it's auto detect on feature. Honestly not sure what it's called but my tv, sound bar and Phillips blu-ray player is hard to turn all off because they keep telling each other to turn on. Otherwise, great player for the money.

This product has been just fine, have had it about two months. The desktop/interface when it boots up is very similar to a Sony player, minus the drop-downs where everything is categorized. It can be a little quirky, i.e. for some reason when I push the power button to turn it off, it decides to come back on, or I will press the eject button and it decides not to until I press it again, or use the remote to eject. Other than that, for the price this is a great deal for a Wi-Fi signal Blu-Ray player that allows me to stream Netflix in my bedroom :)

Serves my purposes well. Excellent for general use of playing DVDs. Controls for wireless functions are cumbersome and Facebook function does not work, but this is not important to me. I also bought one for my daughter and she loves it. Outstanding purchase considering the low price.

I like it and I'm still new to this product: but I can't figure out how to shut it off on the device itself or the remote. So because of that I give 4 stars should be more user friendly. Any advice let me know.And for the $$ I am very happy I was never able to watch Netflix without the Xbox and did not want to spend money on another Xbox so not only did I get a device to watch Netflix and YouTube plus many other apps I also have a Blu ray player now. Very cool!

I've only used the DVD portion so cannot say much about the Blu-Ray feature but I'm satisfied with the performance so far. I've always found Phillips player to be well-built. I do like the WiFi as it offers many streaming options. For those who don't have a stand-alone device and are into streaming along with playing DVDs this is a good choice. The price was excellent and was a contributing factor in buying this model.
