Q: Is the Polk R700 tower speakers available in black ? Thank you
A: Hello Mike, The Polk Audio R700 speaker is produced in Black. Please contact your local Best Buy for ordering options. Thank you, Polk Audio
A: Oddly enough, the Polk R700 is currently available for purchase from Best Buy on 9/14/25. Best Buy has them listed as a “Clearance” item. They’ve done that before with this speaker, then it disappears, then it comes back. I’m not sure why they’re playing games with this speaker, as it’s a very highly rated one by customers and audio expert reviewers. I wonder what Polk has to say about this on again, off again, on again drill. It’s not good for people who want to buy it, plan for it, budget for it, then it’s gone. It happened to me. Come on Best Buy! You can do better.
Q: Is this the price per pair or of a single tower?
A: Hello, our Floor Standing speakers are sold as each not as pairs.

These speakers are beyond what I imagined they have great highs good lows and the mids are not harsh berry neutral to warm sound. Not a harsh sharp speaker. They come rated at 8,6,4 ohms but tests show these are 4ohm speakers. So get some good power to them to wake them up. They were delivered on time and with no issues. Be careful unboxing the ring radiator tweeter is sharp and could either be bent or broken so be gentle and enjoy these immaculate speakers.

I've always been a Bose guy. I was comparing these with the 901 series but decided to give these a shot. I couldn't be more pleased. They sound amazing and were with the purchase.

Where to start? First, the genre I enjoy is Classic Rock, from the vinyl and cassette era. I listen to music in stereo mode. I read reviews across for these speakers and found myself working hard to distinguish between legitimate and objective reviews and those focused on the price of the speakers. From the standpoint of improved sound quality, I cannot say enough, I shopped these and equivalent from Martin Logan, Bowers and Wilkins and KEF at price points much higher than Polk. The clarity, you can close your eyes and almost see the drummer's sticks striking the symbols. It's very close to having them in my Living Room. Sound Stage is very broad with a variety of sitting positions available and no loss of sound quality - some of the premium Martin Logans I listened to, had a very precise sweet spot, I found that objectionable considering their price. I have the black finish, which looks similar to a grey slate monolith - gorgeous. Speaker grills are magnetic, and I'm torn between leaving the grills on or off - they are beautiful. When moving to home theater mode, I debate between setting the crossover to funnel the lows to the subwoofer or leaving the low end at the R700s. The bass is "that good," but if you need to feel Godzilla or hear the Tyrannosaurus Rex in Jurassic Park - leave it to a powerful subwoofer - bottom line, you don't need a subwoofer with these. Feed them some power - I have mine bi-amped and I feel it boosts the clarity. I haven't had them long, so they're not fully broken in yet, but I really enjoy them to this point, I can close my eyes and see the band. They're the perfect match for the music genre I listen to most as well as my home theatre likes. I have better sound vs. the competition and spent less. Can't beat that...
