Q: can you use this without the iFit subscription?
A: Yes. It's important to note that the length of time from turning the machine on to getting to the manual mode is long. It also asks you to sign into your iFit account each time, further lengthening the process to get to the manual mode.
Q: Does this treadmill have good impact cushioning for bad knees ?
A: No, the treadmill will often jerk quickly especially when stopping.

A: mike560 We manufacture many makes and models of treadmills every year. They each have similarities and differences. This model of the Pro 5000 is a 2020. The Pro 2000 is also from 2020. We believe the Smart Pro 5000 you are referencing is from 2016. No matter the year they were first released, each piece of equipment has a warranty and is designed for optimum use. The biggest difference between these models is the console. The Smart Pro 5000 does not have a touchscreen. Instead, it features buttons and a back-lit digital display along with an attached tablet with touchscreen for iFIT syncopation. The Pro 2000 and Pro 5000 have integrated touchscreens.
