Q: does it work in a horizontal outlet or just the vertical one as shown?
A: Yes. It can be plugged in any direction. My kids have theirs plugged into a power strip on the floor. The white part that projects the image can be moved around to aim the image on a wall or ceiling. My daughter loves it. Don't keep it plugged in 24/7 though. It will eventually burn out. Lasts about a year or so. We've gone through several of these over the years with my kids.
