Yes, you always have the option of using the mouse or touchpad as with any other laptop. The touch screen is an added convenience that some people like using. I find myself using the mouse a lot, but there are times when the touch screen really comes in handy.

Others have "already" told you that you can use a mouse with this laptop; however, I just wanted to offer a little more specificity concerning the "type" of mouse which I would recommend. There are some wireless computer mice which have Nanos which plug into a laptop's USB port or USB hub which can protrude from the body of the laptop by an inch or so--"after" being plugged into the USB port! I always worry about accidentally bumping those types of Nano transceiver's and doing damage to the laptop's USB port(s). Other laptop mice have Nano transceivers which protrude by only about 1/4"--after being plugged into the laptop's USB port and can share a similar range of consistent operation. Another feature which I prefer my wireless mouse to have is a scroll wheel that when rolled forward and back the cursor on the laptop's monitor will move "smoothly" and will not "jump" in small increments. This may seem like a small matter; however, it you want to do "screenshots" for subsequent printing purposes of your laptop's monitor screen or view sections on the monitor in the way you want them to be visible to your eye a scroll wheel which moves smoothly is better for these reasons. The Microsoft wireless mouse 3500 (Best Buy SKU: 9798431) fits the bill of having a low profile Nano transceiver and a scroll wheel that moves smoothly. Also, there is a way to go into Windows 10 "settings" and then click onto "devices" and then click onto "touch pad" and then to the right of the screen you will see "additional settings" and when you click onto that you will see a pop up which will enable you to set up your Synaptics Pointing Device so that when a wireless mouse is in use and its Nano transceiver is plugged into the laptop the laptop's touch pad will be "temporarily" disabled and this is a good thing as so very many times when I have been engaged in typing documents, etc. in the past large portions of those documents were erased--when that touch pad was inadvertently depressed and not temporarily disabled. Don't forget to check the box in the Mouse Properties pop up that says => "disable internal pointing device when external USB pointing device is attached" To create an "icon" on your lower task bar for this Synaptics Pointing Device for your quick and easy access, please check the box which says => "static tray icon in taskbar." When you want to make any changes to the Synaptics Pointing Device, click onto the icon on your lower task bar and then click onto "pointing device properties" and take it from there. I also sent you along some digital photo attachments Simone (and for others also) which are computer related items which, when used in conjunction with data entry (i.e., typing) over extended/frequent periods of time, can potentially reduce or eliminate the chances of developing tendonitis which can cause wrist pain, aching, numbness, and loss of strength and agility in the hands. More specifically these items are 1/4" thick "palm elevated" mouse pads and a keyboard gel wrist wrest. Prior to using these items, I always had numbness and tingling in my hands after engaging in lots of typing; however, that problem has long subsided. Thanks for asking your question Nicole. I hope that my answer helps you and others!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes you can use a mouse. Please note, there are only two USB ports and they tend to become loose quick. You might want to get a USB hub
