An answer to your question may help a lot of other people as well; however, I would only proceed with this endeavor of attempting to replace or upgrade your hard drive in this HP laptop model or any other PC laptop with "extreme" caution! Please understand that engaging in this type of repair on your own "may" void your manufacturers warranty! In certain situations I've had great success with learning how to replace internal integrated laptop batteries and integrated batteries for GPS devices, etc. and performing other repair tasks by going on YouTube.com. For "your" issue marjo, I entered the search term into the YouTube.com search bar => "how to upgrade hard drive on HP laptop." There were several opportunities/entries to open. What I will do when trying to learn any process by viewing these YouTube.com videos is first select the instructional videos which have the most viewers--although that is no guarantee! Next, when playing the video tutorials I have selected, I will have my mouse cursor pointed "directly" over the "PAUSE" icon on the Internet video. I will write down the instructions in my own words so I can later refer to them step-by-step when I am ready to perform the task. If I need to go back in the YouTube.com video I will do that also--even if "repeatedly" which is so very often the case! One of the most important pieces of advice I can offer you or anyone marjo is "prior" to ever attempting to open your laptop (if you choose to take the risk in doing so!) would be to place a sheet of paper right by your side and with your laptop face "down" create a "not" true-to-scale representation of your laptops screw positioning on that blank piece of paper. I will then either poke tiny holes in those locations to insert the laptop's screws into as I remove them from the laptop or I will tape the screws over the precise locations which I have marked on the sheet of paper so that when I need to reattach the laptop's base to the rest of the laptop I will know where each screw was "originally" located. To some, this may sound like overkill; however, when I've had the need on a couple of occasions to take apart my laptops to replace internal/integrated batteries, for example, I've found that the screws can be of different lengths and/or sizes and, for me, always were. Another tip which I will offer is that when viewing some of these YouTube.com tutorials, you will discover that there is a special plastic "pry" tool which is available in many different types which is used to assist in the separation of the laptop's base from the top portion so that you are far less likely to do damage to the plastic body of the laptop. Some may be tempted to use, say, a screwdriver to separate the laptop's base from the top portion of the laptop's base and this would likely compromise the integrity and scar the plastic chassis of the laptop. Most importantly, make certain that you prepare yourself adequately for this type of repair marjo--if you decide to engage in such a process. I hope that my answer helps you and others marjo and I hope that you experience an increased level of performance in your laptop. Please make sure that any replacement part which you introduce into the operation of this or any laptop/PC is perfectly compatible with same.
